I want to pick up a whole house water filter unit with replaceable cartridges I want a good flow through rate. What are you using and are you happy with it? I have looked at Lowes only. What catridges do you like? Thanks for the info,
Steve

I run two filters that are connected and I keep it in a milk crate. The first is a 20 micron and the second is a charcoal filter. We have had no problems with flow and the water taste great. I purchased mine from a local plumbing supply and used PEX to connect it. Lowes is great choice just not close to me (45 miles)

We use the charcoal filters just so to take the taste out of the water as well as filter it. We have used the white string filters in the past and they worked well, but did not take out the chlorine.

for our new unit I decided to get a whole house filter and found a whirlpool WHKF-DWH at Lowes ($22 + ~$10 for two pack of filters). I have seen them for years and thought this would be a stable design. Only bought one to try with charcoal filter and in our Jan - Feb trip.

Flow rate and pressure were not affected. We tend to go to the same parks when out seeing customers so we know there water characteristics well.

This unit has 3/4 inch inlet.

Last week I bought another "body" and a two pack of sediment filters and my plan is to put them together today.

I also bought a pressure regulator also. We have not ever had a leak but after hearing recently on the forem the right ones don't restrict flow I thought I would give it a try.

I use a watts water pressure regulator i put together with a gauge I saw a new line of plastic water regulators but I am unsure of the flow through rate. You want a high flow through or pressure drops drastically.

Steve, the ones at Lowes or HD are the same filters....just are a different brand. I have 2 inline and has no effect on flow. With a 50# regulator the showers are great. Just so you know, CW sells the same filters for over twice as much.

Always remember to change out any filters containing charcoal/activated carbon at a regular frequency. They can become a breeding ground for bacteria over time.
