Water leaking from dinette light in slide

We are in CA with temps over 105 every day for the last week. We are having rusty colored water coming out of the light fixture above the dinette. There has been no rain or any other moisture for it to be a leak. Last spring this happened also but we had had a lot of rain and when we took it to the dealer they could not find a leak. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Hi GypsyNurses,

I'd think water from a slideout light fixture would have to be coming in from the top of the slideout. Is the top slanting down slightly so that water runs off the outside edge?

The water is probably coming from your air conditioner flowing on the roof of your slide. It is some how leaking past the top seal on the slide. Climb up and take a look.

Hello everyone,
First post, I have followed for awhile, "Great Info", our trailer :2016 Bighorn 3575EL
I too have a water leak in the slide,
We are currently in Alabama, ( on vacation)LOTS OF RAIN (raining as I wright this)
I have water dripping from the light also,
I have checked the double seal on the slide, both are in the proper position when slide is out/slide is tight/even against wall seal
water is actually soaking the whole top of the inside slide,
I have removed the light cover & LED lights above the table, the insulation is totally saturated with water (pretty significant leak ,we have pans out to catch the water)
I went on top of the slide & made sure that the double seals are in there slide-out position(both are flat against top of slide)slide is tight against wall seal
I pulled the slide in & out & inspected the seals, all look to be in great shape, I made sure that there is nothing behind the inner seal,
(ran my finger along inside edge of inner seal making sure that there was nothing trapped behind the seal )
the leak has caused significant damage, the light cover is coming apart/screws are rusted (not good/not happy)
the trailer is still under warranty,& I will take it in when we get home in a few months, but for now I need to get this ---- leak fixed.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated,

So.....

The top of the slide should tilt slightly so any water runs off to the outside. Also, take a look at how the slide box is sealed. Since you have water inside the box, there must be an entry point into the box. Are the seams taped?

Yes the slide is tilted away from the trailer,
it does not have any "seems" that I am aware of
it seems to pool in roof ( I can reach in with my fingers, where I pulled the LED's)& feel a significant amount of water/insulation is soaked
is the Fascia supposed to be Caulked where it meets the roof membrane ? there is no caulk/sealant on any of the slides
I have looked at the other slides in & out to compare with the one leeking,all look the same
I have pulled the slides in & re-deployed them, seals are all flat no debris, tight wall seal

I have determined that the slide is "sagging" in the middle,I can look along the Fascia & see a significant drop in the middle of the slide,I went topside & verified my finding, in the middle of the slide the seal is not even touching the roof membrane'looks like I'll be calling Heartland tomorrow morning for there advise as to what I need to do,(we are 2000 miles away from home at the moment)Thanks again for the reply to my question,

This video may give you some idea of which areas need close inspection. I think Heartland uses a tape to seal the corners and joints, but the concepts are the same.

I forgot to mention this,
This is our First (technically second ,if you count when we went to Florida to get it) trip in this trailer
we purchased the trailer in Sanford Florida, last September (pulled trailer home) took our time 3-4 weeks
I have an Rv garage/shop so trailer is stored in-doors (the only time the trailer has been outdoors is when it's been at the dealer for other warranty work (non related to this issue) La Mesa RV in Phoenix, great dealership/service department
We just became aware of the leak during this past week
we have been on the road about 4 weeks now,
my problem is definitely the bow in the slide,
the seal is actually not touching the roof in the middle of the slide ,(inner or outer seal)
it is sealing away from the Bow
I will be putting a tarp over the slide to help protect it
wish I had those slide room awnings now

When you have the trailer in for repair be sure they replace the insulation you mentioned.

I sure will, looks like they are going to have to pull the ceiling/fascia off to get in & replace/repair the sagging issue.
I think this is going to be a major repair
