Water pump

Am I correct in thinking the water pump only runs off the battery and not powered by the coverter when plugged into shore power?

If so has anyone wired a ac to dc converter to run the water pump and wired a switch to run off the battery if ac is not available?

Your water pump runs on DC battery power.
If you are plugged into shore power the converter is charging the battery. The water pump still runs off DC.

Correct the pump runs on the 12v dc power. I am wondering if anyone has wired in a converter to run the pump off the shore power.

You are thinking wrong. If plugged in to power the converter is charging the battery which is powering the pump. You do not need a second converter. In most cases the converter will power the pump (and actually all 12v items) even if the battery is removed, although this is not advised nor the correct way to do it as the battery acts as a buffer/filter for the conveter to prevent voltage spikes.

Very true Tombstonejim, ever since they shore powered RVs the power runs to the converter and the converter has an onboard battery charger 2amp (pretty low trickle charge so as not to fry the battery) and it will run any low amp 12volt stuff like the waterpump but not the slide motors or jacks without a charged battery attached or plugged into the tow vehicle
