Watr filters come w/ fittings only

We use RV Water Filter Store part # K5667 filter and it gets replaced each spring regardless of how much or little water goes thru it. Upon 1st getting it, opted for the filter w/ fittings and then just got the new filter w/o fittings and re-used the old ones. Now it seems that RV Water Filter no longer sells just the filter as it only comes w/ fittings. I don't get it. Why the need to get a filter w/ fittings when you have perfectly good ones just to toss 'em out every year?

It could be that it is cheaper that way without having to source and stock different part numbers. It may be worth a call to ask them if they plan to stock the filter without fittings.

I did reach out to them and they say that the only way this filter will come is with the fittings. Again, doesn't make sense to me to have perfectly good fittings, just to toss 'em every year. Co said it's easier to carry (less inventory).
