Why Trailer Brakes are important.

Scottyb, GM 1tn DRW trucks have a rating of 31K for 2WD and 30500K for 4 WD. This rating started in 2011 and are still inplace for the 2013 trucks. I think that Ford has the same ratings {+/-) starting 2011 also. Sorry...Dodge was a few years behind until 2013.

Those are GCWR ratings for Ford and GM. The 2013 Ram has up to a 30K tow rating for the trailer. Up from around 21,500 or so on the 2012's.

Dodge, Ford, and GM use to all carry close to the same Tow rating and the GCWR ( GCWR is what your are referring to rather then Tow Rating). Dodge has far surpassed them for 2013 with a GCWR of 37,xxxlbs and a tow rating of 30,500 lbs.

Matt, thats a heck of a jump. Thats 8K over mine, but I bet the New Dodge 3500 C/C LB DRW weighs in at more than 7K. Just dont think I want to have a GCWR of 38K pulling with a 1tn pickup.

If the truck is built right, then so be it. As this is a major leap in load carrying capacity with major liabilities. So I can only imagine that the pickup will handle without issue.

I love love to have the opportunity to know what it is like to tow that weight with that pickup. Hotshot drivers will consume those pickups.
