Window Caulking

I just noticed the caulk splitting on the rear living window, so I'm planning on replacing it as soon as the East Coast Monsoon Season is over. (Temporary tape-over for now).

Looking at all of the windows, I see that they are caulked along the top and a few inches down the side. Is that all I need to re-caulk, or should I do the whole perimeter? I'm guessing the factory didn't do the whole perimeter because it looks like a pretty close fit between the window frame and the exterior skin on the sides and bottom of the window.

Even along the top of the window the gap is pretty small ... maybe 1/16" in most cases. With such a small gap can I just use a common acrylic caulk, or should I go with something like Proflex RV? The factory caulk seems to come off pretty easy, so I'm thinking it's acrylic.

The window has a gasket around the perimeter. So the thought is that the top will only require caulk.
I would, and have, caulk the top and two sides. Do not caulk the bottom.

Peace
