Wiring batteries

Ok for the life of me I've forgotten how to wire multiple 12v batteries together to keep the same voltage but increase the amperage. I learned all that stuff when I was a generator mechanic in the army years ago (we won't discuss how many years) haha. Can any of you fine folks refresh my memory? I just don't want to deal with switching battery wires from one battery to the other. Just want the advantage of multiple batteries.
