If it is for your residential refrigerator you can turn it off if you are connected to shore power. I leave mine on in case we lose shore power,, so the fridge will not be without power.
As mentioned in another post, there are opinions on both side of the aisle for this. As the above answer, I leave our inverter on 24/7 in case shore power goes off. Some turn their inverter off when on shore power.
