Hi,
just pulled the trigger on a 2014 BH 3570RS. Picking it up next week. Yeah!
what are the actual dry weights after normal options and your weights loaded ready to camp?
Also, I'm hearing there's a big difference between Factory dry and optioned-up dry.

I don't know if there is a "big" difference in weight. The final weight would depend on which options you added.
The brochure shows a basic dry weight without options added.
Once you outfit with options, such as a second AC, dual pane windows, generator etc, the new weight will be shown on a yellow sticker on the door jamb.
After you load up with all your 'stuff', expect around a thousand pound of additional pin weight.

Peace
Dave

Hi Boozecamp,

Congratulations on placing your Bighorn order.

The dry weight is an engineering/design weight that's probably based on the weight of a prototype unit. "Forced options" like hydraulic front landing gear and Correct Track, and "Packages" like King of the Mountain and Premier are probably not included in the dry weight spec. Each unit is weighed as it leaves the factory and a sticker on the door jamb will show that actual weight (including factory installed options, but not including any locally installed options).

Since every order is different, I don't know that anyone could tell you what your unit will weigh until it actually gets weighed. But it's not unusual for the actual empty weight to be up to 1000 lbs heavier than the dry weight specification. Depending on how you load up the unit it's also not unusual for your loaded weight to approach the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR).

The GVW on a 3570RL is 15500#. How you load it and add options is up to you. You have a 250 2011 Ford. What is the 5er weight rating on your truck? I know that the GM trucks are rated a little over 17K for a 5er from 2011 and newer.

Boozecamp... Our dry weight out the factory door is 13,924 that is with 2nd a/c, dual pane windows, 6 point leveling, 8k axles and larger brakes, 12.5 cu ft refrigerator and a few other bells and whistles. Have not weighed it yet fully loaded with our stuff yet, but will be doing so tomorrow or Friday and I will re-post those weights then.

Bret,

Wow.... Your optioned dry weight is 2200+ lbs over the listed dry 3570RS dry weight! That's valuable info. It would be wonderful if you could post your loaded gross weight and actual pin weights. Much appreciated as I'm considering a fully optioned 3570RS as well. I'm particularly interested in how much of your fully loaded weight will shift onto the pin/bed for truck payload capacity.

Thanks,
Kurt

Correction.... Dry weight out the factory door is 13,254 and includes the fireplace option, accessory hitch, theater seating, convection microwave, programmable safe & G rated Goodyear G614 tires and wheels.
And the options in the above post.
The original number I quoted included a full tank of fresh water.... 75 ga. X 8.3 lbs per gallon = 623 lbs

I have a different model but to give you and Idea on how option effect dry weight. The Cyclone 4000 is shown at 14095 when if was deliver with options(1 heat pump, 2 ac's,Goodyear G614, patio and awning, 12 cubic ft frig, and a couple of other small items) the weight was 15650 dry. I added the winegard and washer and dryer. I figure I am down to 2000 lbs of cargo which the Harley will take a third. Once I get the truck out of the shop(whole different story) I will get it weighed loaded.

That % corresponds to our pin weight at the Goshen rally. We have a total weight of 14,300 and a pin weight of 2,800. Our dry weight increased over 1,000 from factory list to over 12,000 and our loaded weight was another 2,200 and we haven't loaded that much - it's amazing to me that we went up that much. We have not loaded anything of any significant weight.

We're planning to re-check at a CAT.

20 to 23% of your total weight will be your hitch pin load.

Official Cat Scales weights today! Rig is almost fully loaded with our stuff and all the tanks were empty (fresh/black/grey/grey). 2 full 30# propanes
2014 Bighorn 3570rs
Dry weight out the factory door with all the options listed in the above 2 post = 13,254 lbs.
Loaded weights:

Trailer = 14,560 lbs
Trailer axles when weighed on split scales = front 5820 + rear 5800 = both combined 11,620 lbs.
Trailer axles when weighed with both axles on same scale it was 11,700 (80 lbs. diff.)
Pin Weight = 2,940 lbs or 20%

This pin weight calculation is based on total trailer weight less the axle weight as determined by gcvw of truck and trailer minus the re-weigh of truck alone.

If I take the scale weights of the trucks rear axle with the trailer connected it is 6,560
If I take the scale weights of the truck rear axle w/o the trailer connected it is 3,680
Difference is 2,880 or 19.6%
Not sure how the pin weight varies in the two calculations by 60 lbs. maybe someone more experienced can help out here.

With G rated tires (3750 lbs each) and 8 k axles and trailer gvwr of 15,500... There's still room for all of the DW's shoes!

Bret, it's a good thing you have some margin. These babies never seem to get lighter as time goes by.

Did you have it weighed in Goshen? If so how does it compare. We came in at 14,300 in Goshen with a 2800 pin weight - very close.....

Theresa... We did not get it weighed in Goshen. We picked it up the first day of the rally and drove straight to the rally. We didn't really have too much stuff in it there, so didn't figure it was worth the effort at that point.
