I'm moving the discussion on the 2010 National Rally convoy and min-rally over here. It looks like we could have a pretty good representation at the National Rally next year and a lot of interest in convoying in together (that's redundant, isn't it?) and having a mini-rally the night before somewhere along the way. Of, course, that depends on planning to arrive on the same date. Anyway, I'm just putting out feelers right now. If you're interested, post a note here. We'll formalize this later.

Gus I think if all this works out then Heartland should give an award for longest convoy going to a rally. Can you imagine all advertisement Heartland would be getting because of people passing us and saying "man they sure are some nice campers, I wish I had one".

Looks like enough interest to get serious about this. I don't think reservations for next year's national rally start until next year (imagine that:D). However, organizing can never start too early. I know a lot of us that have posted here will be at the fall rally, so I'll plan on having an informal meeting there to discuss further, then we'll start putting together an official group. We'll need a couple of volunteers: a Wagonmaster for the pre-rally CG and a "Convoy Commander" for the trip into Nashville. No need to jump in now. We'll discuss it more at Camp Hatteras.

Hey Gus, Chris and I cant make it to the fall rally for 2 reasons. One we dont have our toy hauler yet and 2 DH has to work that weekend. Keep us in mind when yall are discussing the convoy!! I love planning trips and I am the official trip planner/organizer of the family. I love that yall have the same enthusiasm(sp?) as me!!

If you happen to get free for the weekend of the rally, we don't mind an SOB (Some Other Brand) mingling in. You'll be see a thread for convoying to the National Rally after they open the registration next year (sounds so far off:eek:).

I pretty well narrowed it down to either Baileyton RV Park (near Exit 36 on I-81 South in TN) or River Plantation RV Park (off I-40 near Seiverville, TN) River Plantation is approximately 1 hour further from Virginia and NE starting points, but then that makes it 1 hour closer to Nashville the next day. Both CG's have pros and cons. If you're interested in convoying into the National Rally, take a look at both online and give me your thoughts.

Debra and I will probably plan on spending the night on Wed and getting to the National Rally on Thursday (I believe it officially starts on Friday).:)

...Debra and I will probably plan on spending the night on Wed and getting to the National Rally on Thursday (I believe it officially starts on Friday).:)

The first day of the rally is Thursday. I will urge attendees to arrive prior to day 1. Thursday night's CG fee will be included in the rally rate. As the rally has become more popular, I have been trying to pack more value into the same time frame. In Goshen this year, Thursday was a full day of seminars. They were primarily "softer" seminars where as Friday had more "hard hitting" seminars with major component suppliers.

As for the Nashville rally, I will be working on a preliminary agenda in November/December and will have it posted on the registration website for a January 1 launch to Club members.

While I do plan to keep the "on the road" rallies, light in terms of seminars, I still hope to have something going on Thursday. Just not sure what it will be yet. I also plan to have a smaller "Heartland Marketplace" during the rally on Thursday and Friday. So the few hand-selected vendors will be in our hall all day, both days.

Sorry to hijack this thread. Any questions about the Nashville rally itself can be made on that rally's forum here (//heartlandowners.org/showthread.php?t=8810).

Debra and I are OFFICIALLY registered for the National Rally:). Right now our plan is to leave home Tuesday and drive into NE Tennessee and spend the night at the Baileyton RV Park (I'll post park details soon). We'll get up and go into Nashville (convoy?) with a planned arrival around 1:00 Wednesday. That'll give us time to do some local tourist stuff Wednesday afternoon and evening. If we arrive as a group, they will try to get us sited close together. More details to follow.

Hi Everyone,

Jim B has arranged it with the KOA to get as many of us as possible who convoy in on Wed, July 14, sited close together in a group. In order to do so however, we have to give the campground the names of those coming in with the convoy as soon as possible. In order to try to get us close together I need confirmation that you will be joining in the overnight stay at the Baileyton RV park on July 13, and convoying in with us on July 14 to Nashville No Later Than Wed, Jan 13. Sorry for the short notice, but the KOA is filling up rapidly for the rally, so we have to confirm with them very soon. Thanks - Deb and I look forward to meeting up with as many of you as possible. Please email me with confirmation ASAP!

And if it is and you are coming up 40 from the east you need to check the highway repairs. There are areas that are/have been closed due to rock slides.

Did you add Nashville as a destination and then hit navigate?

586 miles is about "line of sight" distance.
730 sounds about right for "travel (road) distance"

It's actually just off of I-81(on north side of 81) near Baileyton, TN, 44 miles SW of Bristol, VA. We'll be coming in out of VA on I-81. For anyone needing to use I-40 in Carolina, it is scheduled to be open by then. Would certainly check in advance to make sure though.

I spoke with Baileyton RV Park, http://www.baileytonrvpark.com/, (nice folks) this morning. We have 15 sites reserved for the mini-rally the night of July 13th. Please call the campground to make your reservations. The number is 888-296-2267. Tell them you are with the Heartland Owner's Club. Because thay are holding 1/4th of their available sites (they only have 60 total), they would like for us to put down a deposit (which will cover your overnight stay except for taxes). If you only need 30amp the deposit = $32, for 50amp it is $34. The deposit is 75% refundable up to 7 days prior to July 13th. If you are a Good Sam member they will give you a 10% discount when you check in.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

There will be one more rig in the convoy as we will be joining you in Baileyton. The Nashville ralley is just one of the many "must do" stops on our "See the USA in 2010" trip. On this trip, by the tiime we get to Nashville, we will have towed the Bighorn over 5,000 miles from our home in Oregon. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Okay. I know we said we were not going to enjoy the moisture and warmth of Tennessee in July (I'm from there there but never adjusted to it) ... but it's better than NOLA I guess, right? But we changed our minds for several reasons and we're now signed up for the Nashville rally.

If we can still book in at the KOA and the pre-rally CG, then we will also be joining the caravan. Yee haw!

BTW, I'm glad Gus is leading at 65 MPH. We just blew out a third China bomb last week ... doing 65mph, within 150 miles of checking pressure and lug nuts. We only have two of those left now ... and I'm not convinced the "new replacement" tires aren't just a different brand of C.B.

We did get a new truck though -- the big dog F-450 -- so we won't be towing so close to the limits. Wow, those 6.4L diesels are so much quieter! And they seem to use only 20% more fuel

I think the caravan is planning to fuel up at the Watt Road exit (I think it's exit 370) which has Flying J, Petro truck stop and T/A truckstop (Fuel today was 2.78). Gus - Thanks! Something unexpected came up with our college student daughter and we had to leave for Nashville yesterday. So, we hooked up the rig and headed west to see her. We made it to the Cumberland Mountain State Park off I-40 Exit 322. It's a beautiful campground. We called KOA Nashville and they were able to accommodate our earlier arrival. They were very helpful, once they knew that we were part of the Heartland Rally group. (Before that, all we could get was a tent site.) You'll see the Baileyton restaurant on your left as you are leaving the town - can't drive a rig in there. There's also one near the elementary school about 500' after you turn right into the town, we've never eaten at that one and can't attest to the quality/value. Watch out for the police running radar across from the school. See you all in Nashville! Safe Travels!!

Byrd - Thanks for the backup offer. Please look us up in Nashville - we'll attempt to find you, too.
