Need Ideas for storage with factory GenSet.

I am trying to add more storage to the front compartment, But I have a factory installed genset with the galvanized sheet metal box. The box is WAY over-sized, and I would like to "shrink" it to reclaim some of the space in the compartment, especially above the genset is a lot of room I can get anything in right now. Anyone out there done anything similar, or have ideas on making the box smaller without removing it or the genset.

I would be careful on shrinking the box too much. One of the reasons for the size is air circulation to keep the GenSet cool.

I have thought about that too, but The Onan is already in a nearly air-tight box, so Heartland makes the galvanized box the height of the compartment door for some other reason.

On the Cyclone I keep wondering how much work is it going to be to get to the jack motor, which is on the genset side.

If the box was just 2 inches lower I could get in there to service the motor.
