I completed my truck project this weekend with the front differential. The bolts were a bit more stubborn to remove, but the eventually did. The oil I drained did not look too ba once I broke the seal with the old cover. The internal gearing looked pretty good as well. It took a bit longer to remove all of the old RTV. Covering the gears with a plastic bag was a good idea while I worked off the RTV and used wet-n-dry paper from the auto store to bring the metal surfaces to "bright and shiny" condition. The cover went on easily enough with adequate clearance from any moving parts. It took four quarts of Royal Purple to finish the job. I drove around for a while and it felt quite smooth. Overall I am please with the results of this weekend and last.
