If you want to completely “cover” the tanks , 20lb cover won’t do it. There will be about 4-5 inches exposed.

Mine are doing the exact same thing...I'm thinking about replacing them with the kind that goes on the side of the camper " under " the awning.

We to have had one in our home for years...it was also the first upgrade to our 30 rkdd after one weekend on the mattress that it came with.

Don't forget the roof and any and all caulking..we found 3 places on our roof (at the rear seam) which had to be fixed. Congrats and enjoy.
