    Landmark frame cracks

I didn't have a lot of movement, I say less than an inch at the seam just below the weight sticker. But it was moving at both ends, which minimized what I observed from the outside. Based on the tig welding I see on the generator compartment aluminum wall, the aluminum welds could quite...

Using drain lines as temp outdoor shower

Not sure what you mean by the "drain lines". I had a sprayer (with hot and cold) in the connection compartment that I removed and hook up a garden hose instead. We give the kids outdoor showers at the beach with it and it works great.

    Landmark frame cracks

I have read numerous accounts of mostly Lippert pin box and frame cracks. A couple weeks ago, I noticed movement on the seam between the off door panel on the overhang and the bull nose trim . I have read here where Heartland will take care of the issue but only at their plant and there is a...

Hydraulic landing gear leak - access question

I have the same leak, no fluid on the ground, just oil around the hose connection on the door side jack. I have bought removable hydraulic fittings for my truck and they worked great. If the leak gets bad enough I will probably replace the hose ends with these...

    Underbelly Covering Cut

+1 on the Gorilla tape. Not only is it really sticky, it is the thickest duct tape on the market. If you want to make sure it never comes off, before applying the tape, spray a light mist of 3M Super 77 aerosol glue on the area of the coroplast that will be taped, let it set for about 1 minute...

Installing Onan Generator from Class A into a Heartland Big Country

I'm a little late to this thread but I 'fitted' a commercial onan 6500 into our Landmark. I did have to modify the mounting base and make provisions for using 6 gallon marine gas tanks using hydraulic quick connects. The two biggest things I learned from my install are: 1) The generator is...

DIY: Repacking wheel bearings and brake adjustment (with pics)

Yes, it is a 20 ton. I have 5 jacks (3 floor and 2 bottle) and this is my favorite. It is fast and effortless, just like an impact wrench compared to a tire iron. Once you use it there is no going back. John

DIY: Repacking wheel bearings and brake adjustment (with pics)

Grease the spindle and slide the drum on. Then pack the outer bearings. Be sure to cover the outside of the bearings as well. Lightly coat the cup with grease. Push the bearings into the cup, taper side in. Install the cleaned bearing washer, tab washer and king nut. Tighten the king nut...

DIY: Repacking wheel bearings and brake adjustment (with pics)

Now use brake cleaner and a brush to clean the brake assembly and spindle. Move the magnet to the left and right to actuate the individual pads so the linkage gets cleaned too. Inspect the pads for wear and replace per the manual. They are to be replaced if less than a 1/16th" (penny for...

DIY: Repacking wheel bearings and brake adjustment (with pics)

Here is a step by step 'how-to' for Lippert bearing repacking and drum brake adjustment. This is based on the Lippert Bearing Inspection and Maintenance manual and Brake Maintenance and Inspection Manual. Figure 1-2 hours per wheel. To get started, you'll need a set of seals (Lippert 122088-...

HOTEL info comes up in google search

I must not have been alone... But thanks for removing the Google index of my personal information. While I would love to help a Heartlander in need, it was not the kind of information I wanted to share with the world.

HOTEL info comes up in google search

I noticed today that my mobile phone number in the PDF HOTEL member listing is indexed in Google and brings up the member listing in PDF. If this was in the fine print when I offered my information to a fellow Heartlander in need, I missed it. I do not think it is a good idea to have this...
