    Missouri Road Trip

If you haven't made plans on a place to stay, I would suggest this little city owned park. http://www.jeffcitymo.org/parks/binderpark.html Stayed there last summer, very nice park, cheap price, excellent grounds, on site laundry, I could easily get our 40' Landmark in our site, just a neat...

Go to your local lumber yard and ask for "6" aluminum Fascia", it comes in 12' lengths for about $8.00. And most lumber yards will have white in stock.

    Fresh Water Tank Vents

On our 06 Landmark, while repairing the tank support, I found that the fresh tank had 4 vents. One to the gravity fill station and 3 to the ground through the belly skin. One in each corner of the tank. I removed 2 of them, left the one to the fill station and one to the ground, which I...

Tap measurements for 08 Landmark Augusta

In our 06 Landmark, I needed to replace the kitchen faucet, it is not a standard spacing, you will need a faucet for a manufactured house ( mobile home). I bought a Delta single handle single bore mount for ours. I used the trim piece for the 3 hole installation to cover the 2 unused holes...

    Visio tv

You can go through the generic programming method. Look in the instruction manual for the receiver, you basically try every code in the remote until you find on that works.

    Bedroom AC emitting foul odor

Pull down the inside grill assembly. See if the attic has been blocked off. If the return is open to the attic, it can suck air from the attic, and since the sewer vents are not sealed from the attic, it will draw air from the outside through the sewer vents and into the air conditioner.

    Sat hookup

You have to have a dedicated coax for the satellite signal. Booster will kill it and over the air signal will scramble it. If you rig is not pre-wired for satellite, you will need to provide a dedicated line.

2004 Dodge RAM 3500 Brake Proportioning

I go for the rear drum brakes adjustment and/or operation. The auto adjusters are not fool proof. And for them to work properly, you need to back up at a fairly good speed and stand on the brake pedal hard to almost lock the front wheels. This needs to be repeated several times to get max...

    Dangerous?? Electrical Concerns

At the pedestal, check the incoming power, verify you still have a neutral and ground. If you lost the neutral, you would have a leg with low voltage and a leg with high voltage.

    New Owner Hitch Question?

2 things, if it is a new hitch, it needs the initial adjustment for pin slop made or redone. Your brake controller needs to be set higher, your truck is most of the braking. When braking , the trailer brakes keep the trailer pulling back on the pin. When you take off again, there should be no...

Want to wire my own PC fan in the fridge?

I have the very same fan and have been using it for over4 years. I have modified mine as I had found the clip mounting kind of a pain. I had a 1" strip of aluminum welded to the top edge and split a piece of 1/4' of fuel line lengthwise, slid it on the added tab . Wired in a small length of...

Wheel Bearings - changed my maintenance schedule

By the looks of the bearing in the picture, and your description, you have an outer bearing failure, and in more than one wheel, in my experience, you had a tight bearing set. The outer is going to be the one that fails first, it is the smaller of the 2 and will heat up the fastest, then...

    Heat pumps

We wound up wintering in our Mt. Rushmore this last winter in south west Missouri. We don't have the heat pumps, but the electric element. We never ran the furnace, between the 3 space heaters, 2 in the living area and 1 in the basement, and the electric element in the A/C, we stayed very...

Burned up the 50amp breaker and almost the camper

No surge protect would have kept this from happening. It was a loose wire like Ray suggested. As an annual preparation for the year, you should remove the cover of the breaker box, NO POWER CONNECTED, and tighten all connections. We have traveling earthquakes going down the road, everything...

    Water Filtration

I installed a whole house filter in the UDC. I use a 5 micron charcoal filter. I usually get a full season on the filter. I also installed a Reverse Osmosis filtering system to feed the ice make and a counter top mounted faucet. We used to haul water, but it took up so much room and didn't...

I've been tasked to create a safety cover for the king pin / box when camping

I have hung a streamer from the pin box and tied a weight to it on the ground. When crouched down to get under the fifth wheel, you are always looking down. When coming back out, you can see the streamer and weight and avoid it.

    Diesel auxiliary tank 2012 F350

I bought the fuel pump at the local parts store, it is a Carter pump, don't remember the part #, but it will flow 35 gallon an hour if memory serves me right. All the plumbing parts to hook it up cost less than $150, and I have a way to watch the fuel level though the rear window and strain and...

    Diesel auxiliary tank 2012 F350

I have a 75 gallon "L" shaped tank under my tool box. It has a draw straw and a high volume/low pressure fuel pump to transfer fuel on demand. Works very well and this is the 3rd truck this setup has been in. Gravity flow is illegal in most states, if there is no automatic shut off when the...

Ok, is this idea insane? Lay it on me, good and bad.

Another thing to remember, up to 25% of the trailer gross is to be carried on the pin. That would leave approximately 12,000 pounds of 16,000 pounds gross weight on the axles. As said above, adding an additional axle will grossly affect the dynamics of how it carries the load. A third axle...

    Question on brakes

Check the wiring, it is possible you have a bad connection in the plug or the controller miss wired. I have seen where there was a single stray strand of wire making a connection from the turn /stop terminal to the brake terminal in the plug.

    Explanation of 50 amp service?

This is true, in your breaker box, every other pair of breakers is on a different leg. Plug your 50 amp cord into an outlet that has one leg dead, you will see that half of the coach is dead also.

2008 Big Country 3490 BHS - does is have wood or aluminum roof trusses?

Re: 2008 Big Country 3490 bhs, has which rafters? The trusses, I believe are welded aluminium. My 06 Landmark are aluminum, most of these rigs are aluminum for the strength and light weight.

ATF: North Trail - Adding another air conditioner on top

If you have 30 amp service, usually it is not pre-wired for the second A/C. You can look in your breaker box and see if you have a 2nd A/C breaker installed in the panel. If not, you are not prepped for the 2nd A/C. You can still install one, but you will have to figure out how to get power...

OMG, I found the original owners!

We bought our 06 Mount Rushmore used as well. The only trouble we have had, and not the fault of Heartland by no means; 1 blow out and a bent axle. Not sure the blow didn't cause the bent axle though. As many have done, and I am sure you will do too, just stay on top of the maintenance. By...

Longview,TX-Canton,oh. Concerned about bridges with no height clearance signs.

Unposted bridges/overpasses are over 15' or 16'+, I don't remember the exact height, are not required. It is up to the individual states and their budget. If you travel the interstates, you can rest assured you won't encounter any low overpasses.

    Generators

I installed a gas Onan in our Landmark. I had a custom fuel tank built to go in the back of the truck to power it. When we need to go somewhere in the truck, I have a 6 gallon boat tank to power it until we return.

Low DC volts as I turn the lights on

I would check the convertor output. If your plugged in, the lights should never dim, as the convertor picks up the load. The battery acts as a capacitor when you are plugged into shore power.
