Underside edge of slideouts flaking off

Many have installed aluminum fascia to the edges of the slide and under the bottom trim piece, this is what I have done. Heartland also has a fix that you can order from them. Call customer service and give them your Heartland members number for a 10% discount.

Adding heating pads to tanks/water lines

I would go with dual voltage heating pads. While on shore power, they would run on 110 volts. Even if you don't have enough capacity left in your 30 amp service, you can rig up a second power inlet to run the pads from a heavy extension cord ( 10 gauge min. ) to the pedestal.

    Da Brakes!

Any short will cause an overload situation, bad magnets, cut wires, bare wires, etc.. Check the wiring from pig tail to the brakes. If the brakes wires run inside the axles, this is the first place I would look. They are notorious for rubbing the insulation off the wires when run in the...

North Country - Fresh Water Tank Capacity and Draining Problems

Re: ATF: North Country - Fresh Water Tank Capacity and Draining Problems If the tank is sagging down and pushing the underbelly skin down, it is getting ready to fall out. The tank bottom needs to be flat in order to use all the available water, and to drain it.

Any power that is needed by the Penguin thermostat, whether the thermostat is on the unit or the wall, will be provided by the 110 volt connected at the Penguin

    Front AC question

The Penguin only requires 110 volt power, no 12 volt needed. Works just like the main unit, except the thermostat and fan control is on the ceiling trim.

    Wasp & Dirt Dobber screens

On our rig, I cut fiberglass window screen to size, on the back side of the vent I laid a bead of polyurethane caulk, then pushed the window screen into it and smoothed it out. Let it cure and trimmed off the excess. You can't tell that the screen is there from the front side and no wasp...

    Front AC question

Our Penguin is the same way. I believe you can get a remote thermostat inside trim, but don't know what wiring is required.

Remove or just move low point drains

On our 06, the outside shower in the door side basement access is the low point drain. I have never blown out any rig with air, even when I was working in a RV shop as a tech. Just hook a hose to the suction side of the pump, stick the other end in a jug of pink stuff, turn the pump on and...

Remove or just move low point drains

Push the drains up into the under belly area and spray expanda-foam in the hole around it. The foam will seal off the hole, insulate the water line, and raise the water line off the belly skin.

ATF: Bighorn - Axle Issue/Tire Wear

Re: ATF: Bighorn - Axel Issue/Tire Wear I agree that 75 PSI is too low. All axles are aligned with a slight toe in. Under inflation will allow the tires roll under causing the wear you are describing. If the tires have a soft side wall, it could very severe. Air pressure is what will...

    Anyone Towing With A Tacoma

You can not go by the rating on the hitch alone. You need to check the load rating on the door and the hitch. Which ever is LOWER, is what you need to go by. You can have a hitch rated for 10,000 pounds, if the truck is only rated for 2,000 pounds, 2,000 pounds is all you can tow!

FIXED! - No Lights in Battery Power in San Antonio

Re: No Lights in Battery Power in San Antonio Make sure your battery connections are clean and wrench tight, not finger tight. If you can grab the cable and pull on it and it rotates under the nut, it is not tight. Loose or corroded connections cause increased resistance which means more...

    Axle and Pin weight

You are expected to carry approximately 20%-25% of you gross on the pin. There for the weight rating. 14,000 pounds gross * 20% = 2800 pounds on the pin. 14000-2800= 11200 pounds on the axles. When the trailer set on the landing gear, the load is actually lighter on the axles due to the...
