Yes, the T-connector is at the end of the cylinder. If there is any movement, the opening in the frame sheers it off causing a leak. I added an extension to hopefully help if the cylinder becomes loose again.
I have had to replace the kitchen slide roller twice on my 2017 Bighorn 3270. It was not the J-38. The part I ordered from Heartland was:
0125984 : Roller - Slide Out Bracket - w/10" Grey Wheel
Replacing the hydraulic cylinder is doable if you decide that is what is needed. It is a messy job but this Lippert video helped me.

We have our warranty from Wholesale Warranties. They have paid us thousands more than we paid for the warranty. That said, we full-time and have had many repairs.
My tank was filling on city water as well. Wasn't sure if it was the Anderson valve or the water pump. I keep a water pump as a spare and swapped it out. That stopped the fresh water tank from filling. I ordered a new "head" for the water pump that contains the check valve, replaced it on the...
One possibility for the furnace just blowing cold air is that the Sail Switch has failed. This switch, attached to the furnace itself, detects if the fan is blowing air. If it thinks it is not, it will not allow the burners to ignite. The part is inexpensive, and assuming that there is available...
I had to replace my tank. Nothing I tried stopped the leak even though the crack was less than 2 inches. I was surprised at how difficult it was for the repair shop to make the connections to the new tank.
If it is an Alpha tank, it is polyethylene. I contacted the company for specs, etc...
The thread that Bill included is very helpful. It has the Heartland part number and i was able to use the shims mentioned and did not have to jack up the slide. I have replaced two of these, in both cases it was the metal bracket that failed.
The gray tank (at least on our Bighorn) has two holes on the top. One hole is for the drain into and one for the vent to the roof. There is a rubber grommet that is placed in the hole to hold the pipes. To my knowledge they are not glued but just pushed into the grommet. You would be surprised...
Sorry I have been away from the computer for a few days. I agree with the others, that I would not glue the metal brackets to the wood. I used the "bent corners" where there was wood. I used gorilla epoxy glue to place the metal brackets against the corners where there is no wood but the...
I had the same problem. Everything found in hardware stores for sinks do not fit but I did get some small mending angles and just bent them much like the ones used when built. The silver ones are mine and the black ones were installed at build. The wood they are attached to is very soft. To my...
Slide the window up. Next slide the screen up the track a little so you can grab it better. Notice in the photo there is a "spring" on the left side of the screen. You want to push the screen toward the spring side and then pull out the screen from the track from the right side.
Your welcome. Glad you were able to fix it. I like the string idea on compressing the spring. I bought a second latch as a spare and hope I don't have to use it :)
Up. The rear large window shade on our rig especially. The movement causes additional stress on the shades and they can come crashing down. Ask me how I know.
I searched for information on how to repair the broken plastic window latch on the vertical sliding windows on my Bighorn. These are located on the slides so that they don’t extend outward and possibly break when the slides are retracted. The plastic pin that inserts into the plastic window...
Because of the desert environment, the morning lows and afternoon highs can very greatly. It can be in the 30s in the morning and then hit 80 in the afternoon. We find that we always need layers to be comfortable.
I can't be much help as I had to pay someone to fix my problem. I was able to confirm that the clamp and butyl is what is used to join the pipe to the tank. I was personally able to see how much the tank flexes especially when full and it causes some movement in the connection. The tanks on my...
Was anyone able to determine how to replace these broken window latches? I realize this is an older post. The latches are plastic so I am sure others have had them fail. The part appears to be RM08407 but I haven't been able to completely confirm this. I have not been able to find any...
My personal experience with a failed high limit switch was that the furnace would run about 2-3 minutes, not seconds, but would also go into "lockout" mode and have to be power cycled to run again. My experience with the flame running for about 10 seconds, and then restarting was a failed...
I was very lucky to find some parts from my RVLock that inexplicably fell to the sandy soil the other day. I thought they were left a previous boondocker! I emailed the RVLock support and very quickly received instructions on the fix plus a picture. Glad to report some good customer service from...
Yes, always confirm that there is water in the hot water tank before turning it on using the Pressure Relief Valve to confirm that water is coming out. An empty tank will quickly burn out the heating element. Ask me how I know :)
Our brass Anderson valve replacement is very hard to turn. We fulltime so it isn't sitting unmoved for long periods of time. I have found that if I turn it toward "winterize" first (counterclockwise) then turn it to "tank fill" it is much easier to turn.
Obviously this is a person decision based on your preferences and uses for the rig. Our 2017 has had numerous problems and especially our first year tested us. We fulltime so we expected more issues but not as many as we have had. If you have a rig you like and it still has good "bones" you may...
Tree14,
You asked about companies. We use "Wholesale Warranties" and have been happy. They were great during the sales process and we haven't had problems with warranty work payments.
Piperflyer,
Our Bighorn slide roller assembly bracket has broken and is the same large roller you have pictured here. Do you have a manufacturer and/or part number for this assembly?
Thanks,
BigFry
Here is a link to some instructions on adding the oil to your system.
https://manuals.heartlandowners.org/manuals/Exterior/Stabs_n_Leveling/Lippert/LIP%200295%20-%20NOISY%20JACKS%20-%20Adding%20Anti-Stiction%20Fluid%20to%20LCI%20Hydraulic%20Systems.pdf
Thanks so much for this advice. I can't believe how much adding this oil has helped. The guy at the CAT dealer says he can't keep it in stock due to all the RVers purchasing it. I can see why now.
I have found out the hard way that you should always have a spare Shurflo pump. I purchased a spare and use it to fill my Bighorn from a water bladder in the bed of the truck. At 60 gallons I can not move it when filled. I connected the power wires to a spare 7 way Bargman plug for electricity...
Thanks for all of your responses. I did get a reply from Heartland and they confirmed that the tanks are connected with “a clamp and butyl.” At least I now know what materials were used. I am hoping that the Fernco coupling will work for me.
John,
The other two tank connections are fitted the same way. I hope they will hold with that single band. I have bigger problems now that I discovered that my galley tank has sprung a leak near the seam that transitions from the lower part of the tank to the upper part that rests on the...
