    Fantastic fans and Maxxair covers

Fantastic Fan has been the best fan for years. Quiet, pull a lot of air, have different covers depending if you want light or not. Their customer service from day one has been the best we have ever seen. We have 3 in out BH: one in the LR, with rain sensor, thermostat controlled(can't reach the...

    Frig drain tube

There was a recall(replacement) on this in the last few years. I posted the details on the forum. I don't have the details any longer.

    Hidden options?

Re: Hidden Options. My impression was if another Heartland product had the option, it might be available as a hidden option. Anything above and beyond that would be "customization" and they are not in that business. If you want a customized rig you go to New Horizons where each rig is a custom...

    Hidden options?

Re: Hidden Options. We have used Goodyear 614 and their predecessor for 15 years or so. Never had a tire failure except for a nail in a tire. For us, that says something. To spend an additional $500-$700 for tires on a $50K item is well worth it for peace-of-mind. We also immediately added the...

    Hidden options?

Re: Hidden Options. When we bought our BH there was a list floating around on the forum with known hidden options. I know we ordered the Goodyear tires and I believe many others did also. There were a lot of tire problems, which seem to have died down, at that time and it seemed to me the...

installing propane catalitic heater in new rv

We, and many others, have used one for years with no problems whatever. You need to crack a window for ventilation. Why we use one: 1) they are quiet, unlike the furnace 2) they don't use electricity(great when boondocking) 3) they produce a lot more heat than an electric heater 4) we use it...

I never realized that Elkhart CG closed down. I thought it was open the entire year. Good to know.

About to give up on delivery

I am curious, what time frame did the dealer give to you originally? I think 8 weeks or longer is fair during the "busy" season. The trailer may be off the line but each of these need to be delivered individually. Not like cars where they put 8 or more on a trailer. Be happy that there aren't...

    Opening windows

Many of us have had this problem. Just loosen the screws a little around the window and they will be easier to open. Just don't loosen them so much that the window falls out.

    Cat opens screen door :(

Our cats haven't figured that out yet but maybe an extra strip of velcro on the door. This will be a pest for you but we all give up a lot for our animals. Congrats on your smart cat. When we lived in a s&b our cat figured out how to take out the screens. I am amazed as to how smart they are.

    Fantastic fans and Maxxair covers

Fantastic has come out with their own cover. Haven't researched it yet but would be curios if someone has.

Unable to get our warranty parts ordered.

I second everyone here, contact Heartland directly and find an independent service center. Most of this should have been fixed before your PDI. It almost sounds like a used trailer or beat up floor model. I personally would not have accepted delivery of the trailer until all this was fixed. OK...

    Swingaway Storage Cabinet

WE use pony tail holders on the cabinet doors, works very well and for the barrel cabinet we put on a window lock. We also keep our soda etc(heavy stuff) in that cabinet.

    towing my car

You will be exceeding weight limits for your tow vehicle and the BH frame may not be able to handle this. In several states double towing is not legal. Other than that I have seen it done, not too sure how safely.

Who decides when, where to go and stay?

DW takes care of all that. We will only make reservations if it is a holiday weekend or for some reason feel a reservation needs to be made. I am in charge of the trailer and most of the driving. We generally have a destination in mind and start wandering in that direction. If it is a route we...

    Service experience

Why don't you contact Heartland Customer Service and talk to them. This is totally unacceptable service and I am surprised you are so patient.
  17. W

    This can get complicated

We rarely make reservations unless it is a holiday weekend, don't like to be locked into a schedule. Part of the advantages of RV for us is no schedule. When something interesting appears or bad weather we just pull over for the night. Campground amenities aren't important, we have our own...

    Lippert/ Mor Ryde IS

Regarding our friend who had problems. This happened 7 years ago and he never mentioned any special stems being put on. Once he got rid of the Equal the problem went away. Maybe suppling is relatively new to resolve this issue.

    Southco Keyless Entry

Our solenoid died and we called Lippert, $105 for replacing it. For now the key works great..................

    Lippert/ Mor Ryde IS

We have a friend who used the Equal in his tires, ended up with slow leaks. The Equal got into the valve stem. Don't know how the Dynabeads work.

    Lippert/ Mor Ryde IS

We asked Mor/Ryde to balance the tires and they took them off someplace and had them balanced.

    Lippert/ Mor Ryde IS

Firerad1, Did you get your tires balanced while they were off the trailer at Mor/ryde? The tires aren't balanced at the factory.

    Water in Kitchen

OK. Trailer is in storage but I will be making a trip over to check it in a few days. I did look for under the kitchen slide and did not see a seal. The other slides have one but not the Kitchen, I will double check. I also can't check for daylight as the cabinets block the entire slide...

Good news for Shurflo 5.7 pumps!

After our 3rd pump we put on a Flojet and never had a problem. Heartland should switch over to Flojet, a much more reliable product.

    Hitch Latch Kit

I missed the original discussion. What is the purpose of this? We have had a 5th wheel for 25 years and never had the hitch unlatch as we were driving. After we hook up we make sure the hitch is engaged and never had a failure.

    Dinette cushion problems and questions

We have the dinette in our 2011 BH and the foam is very dense, you might want to check with Heartland on this. If you don't get anywhere with Heartland you might want to go to Joann's or Hancock and get a different foam to use in the seat. If they don't have what you want stop by a reupholstery...

    Water in Kitchen

We had a day of very heavy rain and when we took out the kitchen slide the floor was wet. This is the first time this has happened to us(may be the first time we drove through a very heavy rain for a long time). Anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it?? Thanks

    G614 vs. Michelin XPS rib

The rule of thumb we use is to replace our tires, both truck and trailer, every 6 years. We don't want to have a blowout and the ensuing problems that can occur with that. Tires on tow vehicles and trailers rarely look worn at 6 years nor can you see the dry rot. It is there.......... Our...

    Confused over who makes lock

Re: Confused ove who makes lock We are out of warranty(I assume, 2 years old) and are having a problem with the solenoid.............Do you think Southco or Lippert. Someone needs to update the contact numbers and remove Shurflo from the keyless lock tree.

    Confused over who makes lock

Our door lock on the BH is having problems. I had always thought Southco makes the lock and it seems to be on their website. When I looked on our initial screen under important contacts it says Shurflo makes the keyless door lock. I looked on the Shurflo website and the lock is not there. Did...

Thanks for the info. We would guess the AC since tank heaters aren't a highly used option. I'll check the color next time doing electrical work.

    Welcome Back Light and Magic

We have been doing that overnight. We just put it back in to make sure it is still happening. The strange part is that it will be fine and start doing it.

    Welcome Back Light and Magic

Simple would be wonderful, magic makes it more difficult. We are on the road currently but will be home in a few days and tackle it then.

    Welcome Back Light and Magic

Does anyone know who makes the circuit for the Welcome Back Light? I checked manuals and the only reference is from Heartland.

    Welcome Back Light and Magic

Just found a write-up on thee Welcome Back light. There is a magnetic contact, now does anyone know where that is? Look like we will need to take off the entire door. We just ran a magnet around the entire door and door jam to see if we can find the location.

    Welcome Back Light and Magic

We did a quick look at the door today as the light is doing it again(did not do it yesterday, we were stationary). The only contacts we could find were for the door lock, 2 on the bottom of the hinge side. Do you know where the contacts are for the light? We did not drive in rain today.
