We have put light bulbs(incandescent) under the kitchen sink, lavatory and behind the UDC, connected to a switch and turn it on when it is getting cold. Never had anything freeze since doing this.

Garmin now has a piece of software called Garmin Lifetime Updater. The program automatically checks to see if there are any updates for your unit. I used it to download my recent update and it worked fine.

We replaced ours with a Flojet also. Flojet has been totally reliable. We went through 3 Shurflows in 9 months. never again.
