If it is a Dometic AC unit the control box can be accessed from below. You should be able to check that by removing the cover over the AC inside the RV. Not sure about other brands. There is a 12v lead that is required for the AC thermostat/controls on most types of units.

On the valve that is spinning 360 degrees, make sure the handle is completely on the stem. On one of my RVs the handle would try to fall off the stem of the valve. If not on completely on it would not index to the correct position.

Two possibilities i can think of: There are 1/2" NPT and 3/4" NPT depending on the brand. Your new one maybe a 3/4" and not a 1/2' like the original. The other possibility is the weight of the rod makes it difficult to get the threads lined up square/straight while starting the threads.

I have not used any brakes like this but 3 sec seems pretty long time. Do you think it is possible your system has air in it and is having to pump the system up each time? You may want to consider bleeding the system??

I am not sure on your radio but usually there are multiple banks of speakers available. On my unit the bank #1 is outside and bank #2 is inside. You can select #1 and/or #2.
