Hi Campers,
My wife and I were traveling from Michigan to Arizona for the winter several months ago. When we stopped for the night in Texas I noticed that a blade was broken on our ceiling fan. Did a little looking and couldn't find one locally so I just took what was left of the broken one off...
I looked at the brass valve and it is a rectangle. I haven't measured it but maybe a little under 1/4" by a little over 1/4". One of mine is shot and the other is on borrowed time. I'm thinking about seeing if someone can 3D print them out of something stronger. If anybody comes up with a better...
We just spent 7 weeks off grid at our place in Arizona and didn't fire up the generator once. We just used the 600 watts of solar panels. Usually we have a 400 watt wind generator to go along with the solar but this season we were late getting there and the days were long enough to keep us...
Thanks Carl. I saw in another post that Heartland would only sell them by the pair. Did you have to buy a pair of them? And do you remember how much they cost?
Greetings,
I am wondering if anyone has a part number for a fender skirt for a Bighorn 3055. I have found several of them online but the measurements don't match. One of ours is cracked, probably due to being over-tightened at the factory. There is also no bracket in the middle to keep it from...
My wife and I have been RV'ing for about 20 years and tent camped before that but have never attended a rally. Is there a site somewhere that would tell us more about what to expect at a rally? What is included with your registration fee? Is it just camping or are there other things available...
I thought I'd give a little update about the inverter steup. We spent the first two months this winter in a campground with full hookups so the inverter didn't really come into play but we are on our property in Arizona living off the grid for the last 4 weeks. 600 watts of solar panels are...
We have an Eeztire TPMS on our 34 foot Bighorn. It works without a booster antenna and has saved us grief three times now. Every time I caught the tire when it went low instead of having it go completely flat and possibly ruin the tire, rim and damage the trailer. Now I wouldn't tow my RV...
Re: Electrical Gremlins are back
I just wanted to thank Bill for his recommendation on the Deoxit spray. I ordered a can and tried it on the switch for light by the pin box. It didn't work at all so I sprayed some Deoxit in the switch and after a couple of sprays it works like new. Best I...
Thanks for that information Jay. I was beginning to think they were just blowing me off. It seems like they would put a message on their phone lines to tell people that they are closed until further notice.
We have been waiting in New Mexico to get this issue taken care of so we can head to our...
Have you tried the Southwest? We spend our winters in New Mexico and Arizona and love it. Sometimes it still gets below freezing at night but we haven't had to deal with any snow or ice. Been at it for years and love it.
I read a thread from a guy who had them and took them off because of the noise that they caused in wind. Maybe not a problem in most areas but where we winter in the foothills of a mountain range it is windy a lot so we don't use them. Also no trees there so that helps a lot. Wind is the only...
That's not good. Hopefully I can get this fixed for good. I called Adam Batson at Heartland last Thursday and he said he would try to talk to his manager and get back to me on Friday. Today is Wednesday and I haven't heard back so I emailed him this morning. Hopefully he will get back with me...
I don't get hung up on what the gauge says. Those gauges are pretty much worthless in a black water tank in my opinion. Having water in the tank sloshing around while you go down the road will likely break things up a lot better than flushing it will.
I read somewhere that you are supposed to run a couple of gallons of water into the black water tank after you empty it to give things a splash zone. I've always done that and never had a problem when we are parked and living in our trailer for three months plus. I also do this before we hit the...
I saw your album there but needed to click on it to make it show pictures. I take it there is no way to post pics without having to click the links? I used to use photobucket and the pics would show up without having to click on anything.
I'm going to try to post some pictures of the frame issues thanks to Bill Knight.

I think I'm getting...
I had a conversation with a rep from Heartland on Thursday. There was a problem with my pics getting to him. First try I was trying to send 10 pics at a time and my mail server wouldn't send a file that large so I resized them. It showed as sent but they didn't get them. I tried it again and did...
Thanks for the replies guys. I noticed that the screw that the door hardware hangs off of was bent a little bit. I turned it 180 degrees so it was bent in the other direction and the nylon keeper stays tight in it for now. We'll see how it goes when we are going down the road again in a couple...
Thanks Dan. That clears some things up for me. This forum is a little different than the others that I'm on. I think the other forums are run by Vp.
I assume that most people take pictures with their phones and post them from a computer. What is the best way to get the pictures from the phone...
I called Heartland today and spoke with a repair technician. He asked me to send him pictures of the area in question as well as pictures of the pin box, the back of the unit and the springs on both sides, which I did. Now it's wait and see what tomorrow brings.
Thanks everyone for your advice...
Hello,
I have a few questions about using this site.
1. Posting pictures. What is everybody using to host photos? I used to use Photobucket but after
they decided to hold my photos hostage I don't want to use them anymore. Suggestions welcome.
2. New posts: Sometimes I click on new posts...
Hello,
The pocket door at the top of the steps in our 3055RL keeps coming off of the hardware. The plastic lever that is supposed to lock it in place keeps coming loose on one end of the door and it won't stay latched. Every time we pull the RV somewhere it is off when we get where we are...
Thanks Bill. I just learned something. I was looking at the bottom of the page with all the threads on it. Now I'll take a look at the similar threads.
Thanks for that information Marc. Did Lippert or Heartland give you any help with paying for the repairs? It doesn't seem like a problem that should be happening. Did you by chance get any pictures?
Greetings fellow campers,
I noticed on our trip from Michigan to the Southwest that we are having an issue with the trim showing movement under the bedroom slide on our 3055 Bighorn fifth wheel. The only thing that I can figure is that maybe a weld let loose on the frame. Door side still looks...
Hi Marc,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. We have a power monitor system that is wired in with the Midnite Solar charge controller so I can see exactly what our power usage is when we are running off of the inverter. I usually don't run the refrigerator off of 120 volt when we are...
Sorry for the long delay in responding to your question Carl. On most days the charge controller display reads 100% when the sun goes down and drops all night until the sun hits the solar panels or the wind generator kicks in. Most mornings the batteries are around 70 to 80%, depending on how...
Re: Electrical Gremlins are back
I'm going to buy some. I have a CNC Machining center that has some switches that don't work as they should. I'm going to try it out on that too.
Re: Electrical Gremlins are back
Update:
I found the problem. There was no power to the wires coming from the switch when the switch was engaged so I traced the wire back from the switch and found it to be an orange wire.
All of the breakers in the hydraulic compartment had power to the draw...
Re: Electrical Gremlins are back
We used the rig in October up in Michigan. Left it parked indoors and winterized it until we were ready to leave for the Southwest. Landing jacks worked fine when we unhooked a few days ago. We spent a couple of nights camping in Walmart parking lots and used...
Re: Electrical Gremlins are back
I looked for an inline fuse today and didn't see one. I haven't checked to see if the breaker has a reset button on it yet. When the weather warms up a little bit I'll take my volt meter and check for power to the switch. No motor noise or clicking at all. Dead...
