TV for Newly Ordered Cyclone 3110

I have an '08 F-350, and I towed extensively in the Rockies. I have not had any problems towing there. On a long steep grade (6%) I may have to make a few brake applications to keep it slowed down, but with plenty of time in between to keep them cool. I'm in no hurry to add an exhaust brake...

    Ordering New Panels

I just went through this on mine. I'm assuming that stripe is a decal, which you would order seperately. The prices are very reasonable if you order directly from Heartland. With truck freight, my parts came out to about $500.

Here's what I learned this weekend

Valterra makes a nice blade valve that attaches to the outlet pipe in place of the cover. I think it was about $25, but well worth the price.

    Buy Your Parts from Heartland!

LaMesa RV in Mesa. They are good at what they do, but they are s-l-o-w getting parts. Also they get backed up in the service department (you can't get in until mid-December right now). I'm getting authorization for Van's RV in Sun City to do some work for me while they fix the damage to my rig.

    Buy Your Parts from Heartland!

I called Heartland today and ordered the parts I needed to repair damage from a tire blowout. With my 10% member discount, I saved over 50% (~$500) by buying directly from them vs through my local dealer. I don't mind throwing the dealer a bone every so often, but I will buy all my parts direct...

    ATF: Cyclone - Kitchen sink

There are only 2 grey tanks in the 3800. It may be possible that your valve is still closed, if the cable became disconnected. I would try to move it and try to feel if it feels freer than the other tank. I wouldn't recommend leaving the valves open all the time. That leaves an open path for...

Gray & black tank valves. Which is which?

Our 2012 3800 is (from front to back) black - gray - black - gray. I remember you always dump black first, so black is in front. Also - only the rear lav tank dumps out of the rear pipe, so we dump that one first, then move the hose to the front to dump the front black, followed by the grays...

TOWMAX Claim denied - Anyone been successful?

Eric at Heartland happily let me vent this morning, but I doubt they will do anything about it. I encouraged him that they need to weigh in with their distributor, as their buying power can make things happen. His answer was "I don't see that happening."

TOWMAX Claim denied - Anyone been successful?

Great idea about Good Sam, although I think Dynamic would see this as the gateway for a mountain of claims. I'll give it a try, though.

TOWMAX Claim denied - Anyone been successful?

Hindsight 20/20, I would not recommend sending the tire to Dynamic for analysis. I think they are more interested in protecting themselves from liability, and I'm having my doubts that they ever intended to deal with integrity. I wish I had just gone straight to USAA (my insurer) and let them...

TOWMAX Claim denied - Anyone been successful?

I finally got my form letter in the mail today from Dynamic, attached below. Based on the verbage, I highly doubt they have ever paid a claim. Eric at Heartland passed the buck to TBC, who passed it to Dynamic. Dynamic took a month to mail me the letter - they won't say anything on the phone...

    TV Needs New Shoes

I also was disappointed with my Michelin LTX AT2. I'll probably only get 35k miles out of them. Luckily I bought them as takeoffs from a 2010 F350, so I didn't pay nearly full price for them.

Yes, Dynamic is a Canadian company and the manufacturer of the Towmax tire. Treddit is the US distributer. Now, I don't see these listed on their website, either (maybe they aren't so proud of them). It could be they are the importer into North America. I dealt with Treddit on my first...

I have been patiently waiting for Dyanmic tire to get back with me about my blowout, but it has been 3 weeks and I'm running out of patience. That tire did $2700 of damage to the camper, plus the $1200 for new tires. I didn't want to make an insurance claim, but might have to go that way to...

    Awnings

I think one of the keys to longevity is keeping it out of the sun - the UV rays eat up the fabric. Of course the whole point of having an awning... They don't last more than a few years in Arizona unless you cover them when not in use. On my old Terry, I made a cover from aluminum gutter...

    Got my China Bombs warrantied!

Funny, Michelin XPS specs http://www.michelinman.com/tire-selector/category/light-truck/xps-rib/tire-details#techspec_table show the 235/85 as a 32" diameter, the have a 215/85 with a 30.7" diameter, but you lose an inch of width, which would make your footprint lb/sqin a lot higher and more...

    Got my China Bombs warrantied!

If the Goodyear tire is 30.7", then it isn't really a 235/85 (although I guess GYR can call it whatever they want). According to Discount Tires calculator http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos, a 235/80/16 tire has a 30.8" diameter, a 235/85/16 has a 31.73" diameter. I didn't want...

    Got my China Bombs warrantied!

The 235/85 LT tires are an inch larger diameter than the 235/80 ST tires. That puts the tires about an inch apart on my Cyclone. Too close for me, so I ended up with Carlyle tires from Discount Tire. I also was reimbursed by TBC for a bad Towmax. Then a second one blew and damaged the...

SOLVED: Help! Gen isn't powering anything inside the coach.

Re: ATF: Cyclone - Help! Gen isn't powering anything inside the coach. Check the circuit breakers in front of the generator in the generator compartment. I think there are 2 30A breakers there. If that isn't it, then it could be your auto-transfer switch, but not much you can do about that...

    Replacement Tires

I recently had the same issue. My blown tire is in Canada for analysis at the factory, hopefully to get reimbursement. I talked with Discount tire about putting on LTs, but the sizes don't work out. the LTs would be an inch larger diameter, and those tires are only 2" apart as it is, so I...

Two Questions on the Cyclone 3800

I think this will be a future mod for us. With 3 kids and sometimes friends, the rear lav gets used a lot, and those boys can be stinky! I can't think of a reason, other that the engineers didn't think of it. Of course, you can't do a ceiling fan because of the loft, but I think there must be...

    Patio Kit for 3800 standard

RevK. I tow my 3800 with a 2008 F-350 Crew Cab Short Bed SRW. I have not had any problems and am not in any hurry to get anything else. I have towed stock, and it was fine, but I added a Spartan tuner and removed the DPF since. I like that combination a lot more. I will be adding airbags to...

    Ford or Chevy

I have a 2008 F-350 and love it. I have 120k miles on it now - had to replace a radiator at 86k miles. We can all debate whose is bigger / better, but I think they both have near equal engine/trans. If you need a crew cab, Ford will win hands down. I didn't even consider the Chevy after...

Any experience with Spartan tuner and DPF delete?

Wow, not my experience at all. I really like the 210hp tune (smooth shift when not in tow tune, little smoke), but mine stays nice and cool. My EGTs rarely exceed 1200 on a strong uphill pull. Coolant in the normal range (200) and oil also right at 210. On a 6% grade last weekend I had to...

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

Unfortunately, I have now joined the Towmax horror victim group. We had one throw the tread 10 miles from home as we headed out for the weekend. A lot of damage, but all repairable. This is the second Towmax failure in 2 months for us (6k miles on the first, 8k on the second-trailer is 4...

Need to Replace Our Portable Gas Grill

I guess it depends on how much real estate you want to cook on. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with a Weber (I have one at home), but for camping I have a Coleman http://www.coleman.com/product/roadtrip-grill-lxe/2000005493. Shower Heads

Since the government has dictated how much water per minute you can shower in, all shower heads have gotten kind of crappy. If you take them off, you'll often find the inlet hole is quite a bit smaller than the pipe. I've found an appropriate size drill bit does wonders to make the shower...

New cyclone 3712 owner leveling question

I'm with Jim. We pull into a spot, check side to side level, then decide if we need to use the 2x8 or 1x8 or both. I'll move 10 feet, put the boards in place, then move back onto them and check level again. After doing this a few times you get pretty fast at it. We do have a couple sets of...
