I also believe you may have read the max tow for a regular trailer, not a 5th wheel. I think your good up to 18k lbs or more.

    Prospective owner no more

A DRW diesel 1 ton will pull most any RV trailer made. You are well setup for any Cyclone. Make sure you do some research on your 6.0 Ford. That motor has a bad reputation, but with some special care and feeding it can be reliable. I used to have one myself, until it bit me and I traded up...

    Electrical Hum - Converter/Transfer Switch ?

Re: Electrical Hum - Converter/Transer Switch ? It didn't hum before, and now it does. How is that normal? Mine doesn't hum. Did you ever check to make sure it hadn't come loose? I can understand that if it is now contacting the sidewall of the basement that what little sound it does make...

Just Looking and Need Help !

I believe the parts are available from Lippert. I think the Bighorns and Landmarks are made that way at the factory. Somewhere on the forum here I've seen it done before.

Just Looking and Need Help !

Everything is a compromise...:) We actually like the layout quite a bit. The kitchen is definitely only wide enough for one person at a time, but it hasn't been an issue. I like all the counter space available. You'd actually be surprised how much stuff you can get in the cabinets and...

Any experience with Spartan tuner and DPF delete?

The temps actually seemed to be better than the stock tune when towing. I'm not sure what Spartan is doing, but I like it. The EGT doesn't come close to a limit, and the coolant, oil and trans temps run as you would expect - pretty much identical to the stock tune. I know my wife (who tows...

Any experience with Spartan tuner and DPF delete?

Thought I'd continue to pass along my experiences. I'm very pleased with the Spartan tuner. We towed 8k miles with it this summer through all kinds of terrain and weather. The power was great and the temps were all nicely within limits. Having the digital guages gave nice piece of mind...

    DIESEL 1 or DIESEL 2

FWIW, Ford suggests using Cetane Booster in the 6.0L and 6.4L engines. I buy it from Ford (same price as discount stores). I find my truck runs much smoother (less pinging) and I do get better mileage, but less than 1mpg. It adds about $1.50 per fill up. Sometimes I run out of booster, and...

    New Wheels for F-350?

You might keep an eye on Craigslist. I had a rim go bad (I had bought used, and likely was damaged by previous owner) and was close to needing tires anyway. I found a set of 4 20" rims and tires off of a King Ranch. They were Michelins with 2000 miles on them. Got the set for $1100, and sold...

2012 Cyclone 3010HD Mods - wishes and dones...

I think next season I will remove one of the benches in back so I can have half the garage for bikes and the other half for a bench or bed. We found this season the bikes spent a lot of time in the garage as we were moving about, precluding us from using the lower bunk unless we took the time...

I leave the ladder on the side, and haven't had any problems. You'll wish you had it on if you have problems with a vent or a/c unit when you're away from home.

I wonder if you have a vent line plugged. Mine does not do this.

    triple vs dual axles

I would guess there are 2 factors at work - maximizing floor space in the trailer (so no duals) and keeping the weight footprint low to prevent sinking in soft landscapes (lb/sqin). 4 tires supporting the same weight as 6 would sink easily in sand and soft dirt, where a lot of folks like to tow...

    Looking at a Cyclone 3800

Just so you have all the information (and opinions are worth what you pay for them), We just finished towing our 3800 8k miles from AZ to WI to WA to CA and back. All kinds of weather and the most difficult grades you can muster. My wife drove half of that while I was home working. Our SRW...

What did you pay for your 3010 or 3110?

FWIW, I think the generator is great. It's nice to have power whenever you want it. You do pay for it, though (price and weight). If you don't get it, make sure you have the trailer prepped for a generator. Some things can only be done well at the factory, and would cost much more to add...

No 12 volt power unless plugged in...

Things that make you say "Hmm." Today all is well. I found one battery was a bit low on water, but not enough that it should have mattered, and I only filled it 30 minutes before we disconnected from shore power. I found the positive lead was loose at the genny, but again, that shouldn't have...

    Looking at a Cyclone 3800

We pull our 3800 with an F-350 SRW. Yes, we are slightly over gross. The suspension and tires have handled it fine. I do have a TPMS to keep an eye on things. No airbags, but I may add some before next season to soften the ride a bit. It's not bad, but it could be a little better. It stops great...

No 12 volt power unless plugged in...

Well, folks. I had a tire go bad today between Bremerton and Tacoma on my way to Mount St Helens. When I tried to put out the slides - No 12V power. Radio face was even dead - and I was hooked up to my pickup and it was running. I noticed when I tried to move the slide switch, the fuel guage...

A Good Reminder of the Value of a Progressive EMS

Or, if you have a generator, I pulled the wire from the output side of the automatic transfer switch, and mounted the EMS right next to it. That was much easier in my installation.

A/C Mod - installed the TimK "Tent" to redirect airflow

Yes, I ordered the 7/8" extension. That was just right to reach the bottom of the duct. The duct itself is a foam material, and the ceiling is the standard RV fiberboard. A rotozip tool worked great to cut the holes bigger. You will also need metal duct tape to reseal the space between the...

    New Cyclone 3800 Owner

That's how mine is, as well. I always dump the rear tank first, so the hose can be better cleaned by the gray water from the front cleanout. I also added a tank flush to the rear black/gray tank, and put the hose connection inside the handle compartment.

While at home... RV plugged in? Refer on?

On my 3800, it is not possible to open the fridge with the slide in -- the clearances are that close. I just make sure it is dried out before we put it away. We also constantly have to realign the oven door-I think it gets jarred by a cabinet door because of the tight clearances.

    Tire pressure monitor systems??

I don't have the instruction handy, but my front tires run at 65, so I know it will go lower. If I remember correctly, you need to make sure the alarm is set lower than the operating pressure before you can set the operating pressure. Check the directions and trouble shooting guide. There is...

    Big trip tomorrow, Big Problem???

I'd be curious what the tank and straps look like when the tank is empty. When I installed a tank flush in the rear black tank on my Cyclone, I was surprised to see the straps for the black and gray tanks were installed with quite a bit of sag. They do absolutely nothing, as far as I can tell...

    Calgon?

We've always just used Calgon and laundry detergent and a few gallons of water. Nothing else. No problems. No smells. We also don't stay parked for more than 4 days anywhere, and then we will dump before we leave (although there are 5 of us).
  39. Bksvo

    Fuel $

Well, we have done nothing to increase supply or decrease regulation and taxes, so unfortunately the decrease in price is a result of decreased demand--poor economy and fears it isn't going to get any better soon. I still like to see it lower, though.

A/C Mod - installed the TimK "Tent" to redirect airflow

I bought three new air vents. They were about $7 a piece. I did need to use a rotozip to make the holes bigger to accomodate them.
