Here is another option for Streets & Trips, it is only good today.

I am sorry to hear about your problem. I think I would go back to the dealer and have some conversations about the problem and their unwillingness to do anything except send some pictures to Heartland. I would definitely contact the extended warranty people directly rather than taking the...
Whether on not you get the TPMS right now or not I would definitely have the steel valve stems put in so when you do get the TPMS you will not have to change them. By the way the people at Trailer Tire are good people and have treated me well over the years. They are located about ten miles...
Diesel fuel will store much longer than gasoline. I store diesel in a storage tank for months and have not had any problems with algae formation or loss of quality. As far as leaving a little diesel in the bottom of the on board tank that would not be a problem because a little diesel in...
I would recommend making your entry 13'6" which is what most interstate highways are required to maintain as a minimal height for overpasses. We modified an old barn last year and went with a 14' door so plenty of room. If you have the overhead space go with as much as possible that way no...
A tour of the plant is very interesting. I have been through twice, once when in production and last year at the rally when they took people through on the weekend when it was shut down. Both times offered unique perspectives. Like you said it is nice to dream.
I don't have one but have considered it because as was noted above most semi's have some kind of aero package. One other benefit would be it would greatly reduce the amount of air flowing under the nose of the trailer which creates a huge whirlwind effect in the bed of your truck. How many of...
I understand that bio diesel is a separate product from all petro based diesel. The off road diesel I use is B-20 bio diesel from my local coop supplier.
Thanks for the info. We are planning on being in Yellowstone to celebrate our 40th on May 28th. Do you think most roads and attractions will be open by then? Do you have any suggestions for must see or do things while we are there? We are planning on arriving before the Memorial Day weekend...
This is my personal experience so take it for what it cost you. I have used bio diesel in my off road equipment for many years and never had any issues with it. I do however use 100% diesel most of the time in my diesel pickup. The two main reasons for this are 1. the DOT people frown when...
I have had the same problem with some of the made in China air chucks. Good advice above. One other possibility is you might have the outgoing air pressure set lower for using nail guns. The compressor will still pump up to 130 but will be limited to what the outgoing side is set at, check...
Those that have the tailgater, how do you secure it so that it does not walk away? Do you chain it to a tree or whatever is close enough? I just wandered because I know you have to clear the treeline for a shot at the southern sky.
I have lost small pieces out of the bed of the truck when towing also. The turbulence created by the nose of the fiver creates tremendous uplift and will pick light things right out of the bed.
Nice recovery on the repair, looks like it is supposed to be there.
Several good suggestions here, I like the bounce dryer sheets. One comment on the moth balls, I would not purchase a unit that had any odor of moth balls. Just a heads up for future resale value. I am sure I am not the only one who would be put off by any odor of moth balls present in a used...
In looking at the new Bighorn's I noticed the tire rating/inflation is for E rated at 80 PSI. This is a change from the G rated tire at 110 PSI. I don't know when Heartland switched but that is what the tag on the side of the new units reads.
You mentioned that your kitchen exhaust fan is recirculating, do you have the vent on the outside of the 5er unlocked? I found out the hard way that this helps the fan work much better. There are two clips which hold it shut.
We also looked at the 3585, it is a very nice unit.
Slide awnings: definitely yes
Dual Pane windows: yes
Backup camera: no experience
RV Capital: good reviews, have not purchased from them
SRW: should be fine just watch total rear axle weight
Good luck with your decision and happy camping.
I think everyone has said a PDI is normally not a charge to the customer. I do want to say I think your attitude is exemplary. I hope you have many happy trips in your new unit.
I know everyone's situation is different but I chose to use a 77 gal fuel tank and tool box combo unit. I have a full size bed on my truck so have plenty of room. I used a transfer pump mounted to the tank which is not quite as handy as having a built in unit. I can remove the tank from the...
Sorry to hear about your roof issues. Glad to hear your insurance stepped up. I have been watching this thread with interest as I have seen the same thing on units going down the highway.
This is just a thought but I wonder if they do not glue the entire surface so there can be expansion and...
I live close to Elkhart so that would be an option for me, like going through Great Lakes RV. The idea ChopperBill brought up about having it delivered to you or your local dealer, if purchased there, has merit. Letting someone else tow the unit 1000 miles or whatever the distance will shake...
Mike,
Sounds like a plan. Is it wood post or steel frame? One suggestion, which is worth what you paid for it, you might want to consider 14' height. Most campers take that much to get them inside and who knows down the road you may want to use it for RV work or storage. Good luck with the...
I believe they have changed the layout and the new ones have the angled stair with the pantry next to it and the refrigerator is moved down where the pantry used to be. That gives about the same counter space and the bathroom and bedroom are accessible when the slide is in.
First, welcome to the Heartland Family. We have been very happy with ours. To your question, I don't think you need a slider but some feel safer using them with the short bed. I think I recognize your name, it's good to have more local people on the forum. Again, Welcome!
Being a retired paratrooper I knew you would "land on your feet" so to speak. I am glad things are working out and hope you can get your health problems sorted out. Looking forward to watching your projects take shape.
Are these tanks designed to work in a vertical position? The only application I have seen them used in is in a horizontal position such as forklifts. I tried to go to the link above but it just took me to the same picture that is in the thread.
Like others have said, there are a lot of choices out there. I have found the most information on many different camera's (and RV's) on ebay. They have a huge assortment and there is lots of material. It gives you a good idea of what is available and how much you should expect to pay. I...
Sorry I did not see your post on cost, I had replied to your email. Here is the text of that reply.
I do not remember the exact cost but it was around $225 installed. That included new six leaf springs and larger u bolts replacing the four leaf china springs that were on the unit. I have...
I had the same problem last year. I discovered the springs on one side(the heavy side) were flat and one set was actually bent. I replaced all four sets of springs with heavier springs and then made an appointment with Lippert in Elkhart to have it checked out. The tech said I had already...
