Newbie looking for help on Brand

If you are talking about Bighorn, my guess would be that either the dealer or Heartland decided not to continue with that dealer carrying the products. Bighorn and Landmark, in particular, have a very limited dealer network. Heartland's strategy was to make fewer units and have less dealers...

Things You Don't Want to See

Re: What was the tow vehicle? I just responded to another thread here where someone asked about pulling a 15,000 lb fiver with a 3/4 ton truck. Many forum members responded that there was no problem, they have been pulling rigs way over their vehicle's weight rating for years. Makes you...

    Refill disposable propane bottles?

I won't refill those bottles. For one thing, the best you can do is get half a pound in one. For another, there are no safety devices on the cylinder. The refillable bottles (10, 20, 30lb), have a float in them to prevent overfilling. Too much propane in a bottle can cause leak or explosion of...

    Bighorn 3010re

We have the 3160EL. It is a bit less nose heavy than the one you are considering (our loaded pin weight is about 2,600 lbs). We are just short of maxing out the GWLR of our 2014 F350. Some people do two with a 3/4 ton truck, but they are over their rated limit. I don't like the idea of pulling a...

Newbie looking for help on Brand

I think there may be a bit of a gap in the comparison. Keystone considers the Montana line to be mid-range. Heartland puts the Bighorn in the luxury group. My neighbor has had his Montana for over a decade and loves it. We bought our Bighorn this spring. It has 26 problems that the dealer will...

New Heartland product and quality problems any?

I just wanted to add one thing that, at least for me, makes me a very happy camper: I sent my punch list to the service manager at my dealership (great, by the way) and also sent it (along with photos) to Heartland Customer Service. I just got off the phone with my dealer to confirm my...

    Bedroom AC ducted or not

In our unit, the bedroom AC is actually connected to the ducts that cover the entire coach. If the BR AC is off, the bedroom still receives AC from the livingroom unit. When I turn on the BR AC and turn off the LR AC, the same occurs, cool air circulates throughout the coach. I'm not sure if...

Ventured into the satellite world and so far a bit disappointed

We have been with DirecTV since it started. We never lost our saved programs. You may want to call them. We find the Trav'ler works well when we can "see" the satellites. Trees get in the way at some parks.

New 2015 Bighorn 3270RS Floor Plan

Very impressive! It makes me sorry I bought the 2014 3160 EL. I absolutely hate the noisy AC's, especially the one in the bedroom. It's so loud we can't sleep with it on. I also really like the dining room slide awning option. I am also unhappy with the Towmax tires. We do have 7,000 lbs axles...

    2015 Landmark coaxial wiring

I am not sure about how the 2013 BH is wired. In mine, there are two coax cables coming in to the bedroom closet. One is antenna/cable, the other is the sat wiring from the UDC. Is that how yours is set up?

ATF: Landmark - Where do you attach the Trav'ler satellite on the roof for a pre-wired new Landmark

The cables come out on ours over the bedroom (closer to the bathroom). You can easily run the roof cable anywhere you want. Our dish is only a foot or two away from where they are in the roof.

Ventured into the satellite world and so far a bit disappointed

We bought the Winegard Trav'ler (DireTV HD) and had it installed by CW. Our Bighorn is prewired for sat so no problems with wires anywhere. I did have to run a HDMI cable in the bedroom from the receiver (in the closet) to the set. But the wiring is mostly hidden since it runs through the closet...

    COAX Connectors

We have the "new" kind. It is a good quality compression fitting for the RG6. Crimp connectors went away years ago. If you have any, I suggest you switch. I bought the tool needed at Home Depot for less than $50. The connectors are a bit more expensive, but are much more reliable.

ATF: Landmark - Where do you attach the Trav'ler satellite on the roof for a pre-wired new Landmark

We have the Trav'ler. The coach is prewired with one RG6 to the bedroom and one to the living room (attach jumpers in UDC). The Trav'ler uses a SWM setup. Be sure your receivers are current enough to work with SWM. SWM means one cable to each receiver, not two. The Trav'ler can support up to...

    Holding tanks monitors

I have the opposite problem. It just happened for the second time today. After our weekend, I drained the black tank and used the built-in rinser. After it had worked for about 15 minutes, the black tank read empty. I didn't add any water this time before leaving. Last time I added a few...

New Heartland product and quality problems any?

Re: New Heartland product and quality problems any? Our previous trailer had the Jensen unit (actually there are a bunch of different models, our Kodiak had the cheapest). New Heartland product and quality problems any?

We picked up our Bighorn 3160 in March. We have found a significant number of defects. Fortunately, all are fit and finish. We have a Sept appointment to get them corrected. I think that Heartland's quality control is deplorable. Every single problem we have was easy to discover. A reasonable...

    Apology

I understand the upset as well. I am very unhappy with the number of problems in our new Bighorn. My contacts with Heartland have been very pleasant and generally productive. I think we do have a right to be upset with the very poor initial quality of such expensive, luxury fivers. At least...

Anode or custom drain plug on Suburban Hot Water Heater?

You are correct. Frequently the threads cut the tape so they make contact. I'm not a plumber, but an old friend who advised me (I did a lot of plumbing work on my last house) advised that the liquid Teflon is best. I've had very good luck with it.

Anode or custom drain plug on Suburban Hot Water Heater?

Bear in mind that teflon tape is an insulator and may affect the electrolytic action needed to prevent tank damage. I suggest you clean the threads with steel wool and a bit of oil and then put a new rod in. If you think that seepage into the threads is causing the rust, then instead of teflon...

    Works great no yelling!!

We have a backup camera but don't use it for backing up. We use it as a rearview mirror on the road. Hand signals didn't work for us.
