Great article - BUT - I went through the China Bomb mess with Mission tires on my Heartland Cyclone. Went to LT tires 2 years ago and have had no more tire problems. Tire explosions cause way to much grief and money for repairs, I'll stick with LT.
Best one I have found so far is the Condor. It holds the bike up straight and and allows you to set your straps without using the kickstand. Removes easily and only leaves the floor bracket. Not cheap but safe and they work, Super set up.
I have run the generator many times while traveling. Great for cooling the interior, running the fridge and also a way to EXERCISE the generator. That's what it's made for.
I bought Sendel 16" 80# wheels. Machined clear coated T02-66655T from www.gearworksmfg.com 815-895-0244
Turned out great, best thing for the application.
Re: Tire swap
I bought the Sendel wheels from GearWorks in Maple Park, IL www.gearworksmfg.com -- The tires were purchased through TireRack in South Bend, IN.
So far the setup is great, not problems whatsoever.
A ride sounds like a fine addition to the rally. Hope we can make Goshen in 12 and be part of a ride with Heartlanders.
My BAD --- I guess I did mean 2011.
Best place I have found so far for Cummins - Fleetguard filters and oem equipment is http://www.genosgarage.com/. Not all cheap but it is the real stuff for Dodge Cummins.
Here's what I did for the Cyclone tire problem. 2007 - 3795 Full Throttle. About 1 1/2 - 2 in. space between the tires, no clearance trouble at top of tire. So far no problems and a huge amount of peace of mind...
Wondering if anyone else has this same problem. When new a few of the ceiling seams were lifted or raised as shown. The problem seems to be getting worse. Anyone have a reasonable idea for a fix? I cannot just shove the material back in - I have tried that and the molding is to tight.
Re: Tire swap
The tire setup has been great. I have only been able to take some short trips but No trouble whatsoever. That tire size raised the trailer about 1 1/2" to 2". Certainly one of the better moves I have made to take some of the drama and tire explosion fears away.
Hey all --- Returning from Sturgis 2010 Harley Cycle Rally to Indiana I saw 2 great Cyclones heading East on I-80. Great Bike carriers and a super time with 700K - 800K brothers in South Dakota.
We stayed at Heartland Camp and RV in Hermosa. About 18-20 miles from Mt. Rushmore, South of Rapid City. Very nice place and good people for management. We are returning 8-8 for the Sturgis Cycle Rally ------ WHOO HOOOO Sturgis Bound
Extra fuel on board is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I also have an in bed 51 gallon with a tool box on top. Bought it from Northern tools. If you can spare the bed space it is the way to go.
I can't find the original box for the Grand Gourmet ignitor kit right now but this kit from WalMart online looks to me to be the same configuration. I will continue to look for the original container but I can't promise anything.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Electric-Ignitor-Kit/8587363
The ignitor control unit is fairly large. I checked for other locations to install but the spot between the center knob and the knob to the left seemed to be the only place it would fit. You have to measure very carefully to locate the hole vertically. You know the old saying ----- Measure...
I don't know about using the piezo ignitor for the burners; I didn't do that even though there were extra ignitors. That did not seem necessary to me because they are no problem lighting from topside. I was more concerned with lighting the oven pilot flame. Position the sparking tip about 1/8"...
Here's the fix for lighting the pilot flame for your oven. Tried the one spark ignitor but did not have very good luck with that system. It lit about one time out of 50 tries -- not a good average.
This universal fit ignitor is available at Meijer stores and I'm sure other places. Push the...
You will not go wrong with the TrailerSaver TS3. Yes it is pricey but you do get what you pay for; a hitch setup that is strong and worry free as you could hope for.
I have to agree with Delaine and Lindy. The TrailerSaver air hitch is the best I have ever owned. Yes they are expensive but what isn't these days, certainly less than the trailer cost. I don't know if they sell a slider version or not - check out their website. I believe it is...
I have the RDS 51 gal. combo tank and toolbox. Gravity feed with shutoff valve (just in case of a problem). 3 Years and works great -- would not be without the extra fuel capacity.
I have had a Design Tech remote start unit on my '95 F-350 for many years now. Works well and is fully programmable for diesel delay start and also run times . If I remember either 10-15 o 20 minutes runtime.
Also has a switch you can install for letting the truck run with locked doors at a...
Did anyone attend the Chicagoland RV show this year? Did not get a chance to attend. Not to impressed with the show last year. Hopefully this years show had more activity.
Why will some not understand why The Chinese Junk tires are referred to as "China Bombs". Not just on our Heartland Owners site but on many other RV related forums also. Many put the blame on weight, under-pressure, over-pressure, to high pin position and many, many other strange and sometimes...

TrailerSaver
I would second - wait - third the choice of the TrailerSaver hitch. I have the TS3 and would purchase again.
Super company to deal with and probably never have to replace with normal usage. Also the hitch has the Holland/Binkley head which is the Cadillac of 5th wheeel head...
