EVENT: North American Heartland Rally: IN, Goshen - 6/12/2023 to 6/18/2023

We would like to attend this, but we are already signed up for the Concoctions & Confections tour. Perhaps another tour will be added. Question - we accidentally signed up for both of the Boats, Bison & BBQ tours. I understand this cannot be corrected, so if any one needs tickets for June...

    Level up failure

UPDATE: We had a mobile tech visit the trailer. After testing the front legs for the seal failure, a call to Lippert suggested to check the solenoid to see if the was partial sticking - none found. The middle level-up leg on the drivers side had a failed internal seal. Also found was the...

    Level up failure

So I went back out to the trailer. I checked all 6 seals on the legs - dry as a bone. I checked the 4 rear fittings from pump to leg fittings - dry as a bone. Above on the left is another picture of the front leg line from the pump. I did a tissue test and there is no ATF on the crimp or the...

    Level up failure

Hey Dan, How do I check for that? Since they are the front jacks, shouldn't I see something on the ground or in the trailer? Why would there be a tiny leak by the valve on top of the reservoir? Would the failure of the valve also be considered an internal leak?

    Level up failure

While checking on our trailer in storage, we noticed that the front was way down (pic 1). Opening the front compartment, the right valve/connection had a small amount of ATF on it (pic 2). The reservoir is nearly full (pic 3). The 4 rear legs are also extended which would explain some dip in...

    Long Distance RVing

I have used road tripper, but since they changed, I haven't used it. t was good for main route with campgrounds within a given range. Like Dan, I also added RVparkreviews to get an idea of what the traveling public thought.

Ford engine lite on code: P20EE

I had a def sensor go bad on me several years ago. The dealer at that time said that the emission system has a 10 warranty. I think this is covered by gov't requirements rather than a manufacturer warranty even though the time from is similar.

    Micro-Air EasyStart

How do I figure out the voltage to my Dometic AC units? This is needed to know which easystart model to buy. All I got was the warranty document and the registration card with my rig. My 2014 Bighorn has two 15k units, but I don't know if they take 120 volts or 208/240 volts. I'm guessing...

    Level up winter storage

We get a lot of wind here in the Denver area. I lower the legs to provide additional stability during the winter. It is also a poor mans security system as I leave the legs down and yank the batteries (I also use a pin lock). First thing I do when I return in the spring is silicon the legs...

    Level Up Maintenance

If we stay more than a day or two, I always clean the legs off. Part of my check list. Make sure to wipe from seal down to foot. Keeps any debris away from the seals.

    Blowing out water and antifreeze

The part is not exclusive to Heartland. You could open up your search criteria to include other dealers. Just note the model number and manufacturer. You could also reach out to the manufacturer and ask them how much to ship you one over night. Ours that failed was plastic and weighed very...

    Blowing out water and antifreeze

We had our by-pass valve freeze after following the air/antifreeze process a couple of years ago. The water I think was after the by-pass valve shutting off the water heater. I have now added another step in the process to open the by-pass valve when using air with the water heater drain open...

    F-350 and Bighorn?

We have a F350 srw and a bighorn 3010re. When I weighed the wheel positions, I found out 1 tire was over weight. Combination of offset fuel tank and OEM tires not fully rated for 1 ton (in my opinion). Bought custom 19.5 wheels and run Toyo commercial truck tires. Solved weight issue and...

Need some opinions on 2016 Big Country 3560SS

Re: Need some opinions please For us it came down to interior colors and the level up system (which was optional that year). The model for that year was basically the same between the two brands. The Landmark, the Bighorn and the Big country are all built in one shop with the same people and...

Need some opinions on 2016 Big Country 3560SS

Re: Need some opinions please You may already have done this, but I would inspect or have the rig inspected. Compared to what is being asked for this model on rvtrader, the price seems to be lower than others are asking for. We love our Bighorn and almost bought a Big Country.

    MorRyde Independent Suspension

In my opinion, suspension issues rate up there with tire issues. We had Morryde IS and disc brakes put on before we drove 10k miles through Alaska. Probably paid for itself on that trip alone. No more shackles or leaf springs to worry about.

    Refrigerator Venting

We bought an ARP controller with 2 additional fans at a rally. We were able to lower the cooling setting several settings on the frig at the rally in Tucson. The fans help with air flow and the controller would prevent a failure (shuts off and resets a few minutes later) if the frig was out of...

    Death of Direct TV

I think there will be more change once SpaceX brings all those low earth orbiting satelites on line. I think both 5G and internet service providers will have a new competitor.

    Slide Topper- options and recommendations

We had Carefree slide toppers installed when we bought the trailer. Kept having problems onthe long slide with the bracket breaking because of topper movement going downthe road. In the four years that we had the toppers we were starting to see the vinyl fail due to the sun. We now have the...

2019 Bighorn 3870FB Wheel & Lug Nut Question

I tightend my by hand with a torque wrench and rounded one of them a while ago. A pain to get off. Required a special socket and a sledge hammer. Replaced them all with solid lug nuts. Problem solved.

    Is it broke?

At the national rally, the Heartland field crew really came through. We hadn't had water in the trailer for 3 weeks and when we asked if we could be put on the minor repair list for the by pass valve, the repair crew put us on the 'hot sheets' list and our request was brought to the top of the...

    Ladder mount bike rack

We used a ladder rack for 2 mountain bikes. I made sure the bikes moved as little as possible. After snapping a bolt on the support to ladder connection, I decided to make a change. I've seen follow member's bike racks fail (both welded and bolted) and a hitch installer would not touch the...

    Is it broke?

When un-winterizing last Friday, I discovered a crack in the elbow of the 3-way valve (water heater side). That is the white elbow in the picture. I was able to remove the ring and unscrewed the fitting. The black valve part came apart when I got the elbow loose. It was connected to the...

    roof protection

I get on my hands and knees and scrub the roof in the spring when I pull the trailer out of storage. I then apply the protectent from Dicor. This allows me to inspect the roof including the caulking in the process. I ended up applying some caulk last year as a precaution in a couple areas...

    Banff, Alberta, Canada and parking?

We stayed at Spring Creek RV Campground in Canmore. If it isn't all torn down yet (I doubt it), there was some space that could be used to park an RV. We drove to Banff and surrounding area last summer.

There is a directory called H.O.T.E.L. (https://heartlandowners.org/hotel_export.php) that lists 3 people in the Chico area. I forgot what is stands for, but if you have an urgent need, that is what its for. We've all been in your shoes when it comes to having our first RV. I learned there...

    Single wheel or dually?

If a new house came with my F350, I would have opted for a DRW. I live in a neighboorhood which requires all vehicles to be store in the garage. Since I didn't get a new house, I park my SRW in my garage. I solved the stability issue with 19.5" load range H tires on the truck. Very little...

    Slide Topper Recommendations

Had Carefree = kept breaking the brackets. Fabric shot after 3 years. Couldn't convince the manufacturer that their bracket will not hold a long topper without a middle support roller. Wouldn't recommend them. Went to Lippert - Solera. I like the metal wrapping over the closed topper.

    Outside shower barely working

The diameter of the nozzle is 5/8' and the flow restrictor hole has a diameter of 1/16". I would agree that some level of restrictor in necessary for water pressure, but once the water blasts into the nozzle head, it dribbles out the end because there is little water flow getting through. I...

    Outside shower barely working

I have the outside shower nozzle in my hand. There is no screen designed for this nozzle. I took the faucet head off and there is an O ring and a nozzle cone. I took off the whole nozzle from the 3/8 inch line (looks like - but not measured) and there is a plastic cover with a tiny hole in...

    Outside shower barely working

I have been using the outside shower hose to take the air out of the water line when we hook up the water while camping (used city water selection). The water/air mixture barely comes out. When I winterized last week using the water pump - same result. I took the basement wall down and...

    Emissions Delete Duramax

I have heard that removing the new emmisions parts is a violation of the clean air act (if it still exists) and your truck could be towed to the nearest dfealer and have the parts reinstalled plus a fine. About $7500. Chances of that happening are slim, but still exists.
