    Winterizing - headache or breeze?

Dewwood, you make it sound like the Gateway is configured like our current Sundance - access via the basement area. I've seen other models where everything was accessible via the docking station area. Can you reach the valves while standing on the street side of the unit, or do you have to...

    Winterizing - headache or breeze?

I have a Sundance 2998RB that has been a great unit. The biggest problem is winterizing the unit. I have to crawl into the basement storage area, remove a panel and stretch and squirm and wiggle to get my hand in far enough to reach the hot water heater bypass. Also the valves to draw...

    Broken Ceiling Fan

Do you still have that contact information? I just called Heartland again and they said no dice. They import from China, of course. Unless I speak chinese I'm likely out of luck and the shipping costs would be outrageous. Heartland suggested buying a small fan from Lowes. They did have some...

    Broken Ceiling Fan

Checked Lowes yesterday and HomeDepot online - notheing there either. Some of the websites I checked had 6 or 8 different configurations and none of them matched. Must be some sort of special Chinese American part.

    Broken Ceiling Fan

While fluffing sheets for the "air" sofa, my DW hit the fan, while it was running, and snapped off a blade. It broke the metal arm that connects the motor to the fan blade. Now, I cannot find a replacement. I spent 2 hours online last night searching for fan arms that have the same hole...

    Power King Towmax STR tires

I just ordered 5 of the BFG Commercial T/A tires. $150 each from SummitRacing. I'm trying to decide if I should keep the china bombs to put back on for winter storage or try the Craig's list route for getting rid of them. I can mount and dismount my own tires, but if I can get $200 out of the...

    Power King Towmax STR tires

I'll go out on a limb and call them crap. 3rd season on these tires and just had a failure. I had a sidewall buldge the size of a cantelope. Lucky it happened while we were off the interstate. Looking at Goodyear G614, Maxxis M8008 and BFG Commercial T/A as replacement options.

Wheel Bearing Lubrication -"Easy Lube Hub"

I don't have the grease fittings. I have the 6K axles - I wanted a better safety margin. As for doing the job, cleaning is no problem with a 30 gallon parts washer! No offense, but the few times I have had warranty work performed, the work was sub standard. I have gotten to the point that I...

Wheel Bearing Lubrication -"Easy Lube Hub"

All this discussion of lube, and I didn't see what the proper lube for the bearings is. Please enlighten me. I should get up to speed and repack my bearings - it has been about 2.5 years since we received the unit and I haven't touched the bearing yet. Shame on me!

    Bicycle Rack

I am dissapointed with the strength of our bumper. I had 4 bikes back there and after a few hundred miles, the bumper welds are tearing. Apparantly, there is considerable up and down movement when the trailer takes a bump. I'm really dissapointed because I had seen another Sundance owner...

    Bumper welds tearing!!!

With the weight of 3 bikes hanging on the bumper, the welds are starting to fail, or possibly the metal itself. Has anyone done some reinforcing and if so could you please post some picturers. Thanks.

    Holding tank locations

I found myself more worried about the tank mounting rather than the location. While fixing a leaky valve, I noticed my black tank was about 2" too low. The rear most bracket, which is bolted in, had sheared a bolt and allowed the support bracket to rotate, bend and let the tank drop down...

    Cable/Antenna available at each location?

On our last outing, I connected to the campgrounds cable for my viewing pleasure. There were no channels found. I was using the tv hookup in the master bedroom. I was able to pick up a few local stations, but their signal was less than desirable. Our neighbors had several cable channels. I...

    Bumper Storage of sewer hose

Being new to the RV thing, I assumed I was to store the sewer hose in the bumper. The rubber end caps are coming out while traveling and we finally lost one. Has anyone developed a clever means to keep the caps on or devised a replacement cap? I would appreciate any tips. Our 2998RB has 2...

Leaky Black Waste Valve and tank bracket failure

I was thinking of the twist on, but now I'm in so deep, I might as well find the root of the problem. I guess it was a good problem as I found the broken and falling tank before it did severe damage.

Leaky Black Waste Valve and tank bracket failure

Thanks cookie. That's what I am thinking happened - but I always use the tank flush - I was really excited to see the tank flush feature on the Sundance for 2010! It's really bad when you get excited about stuff like that!

Leaky Black Waste Valve and tank bracket failure

I have finally gotten tired of being covered in poo when emptying the black waste tank. The valve leaks a bit and it must build some pressure with the cap on the dump tube. When I take off the cap, the waste spews out (have you seen the movie RV?) So I decided to pull off the underbelly and...

    Leaky outside shower

I noticed my outside shower leaking inside behind the propane tanks. It only leaks when the water is turned on. I assume just a loose fitting. Is there a way to access this from the backside, or do I need to unscrew the entire assembly and recaulk it? If I have to recaulk, can I use a good...

    Reese/Draw-Tite Head lock search

I found the solution for me! The pull pin plate was my second choice, but I used a 1/2" hitch locking pin from etrailer.com. http://www.etrailer.com/pc-l2~2866DAT.htm The lock cylinder hangs down which provides easy acess to remove the unit. Fits perfectly!

    fuel mileage w/ Duramax

We just did about 1300 miles from near Cincinnati, OH to Charleston, SC. We averaged 14.15 mpg for that trip. The mods are: K&N stock replacement filter, Kennedy Diesel ECM and 4" exhaust, 265 tires with ECM reprogrammed to match. I had trouble staying under 70mph. My truck likes to run...

    Air Bag Inflation Question

I have an '01 2500 HD with the bags. I have only had them on a short time, but really like them. The ride is a bit more bouncy but far less harsh on bumps. I usually run 30-40 psi with the trailer hitched. The factory GM shocks are horrible. I had added Bilsteins several years ago. A...

Reese/Draw-Tite Head lock search - SOLUTION! With advice from many members here and on other forums, I choose the Reese Signature series hitch. Great hitch, easy install and very soild. One thing I don't like is the removeable hitch head. The hitch is solid under proper operating conditions...

How to take along a generator?

We have a Sundance 2998RB and we bought a NorthStar generator just in case. I hate to admit it, but it's the dog who would really need it. Our 12 year old Cocker doesn't like heat. So, if we stop somewhere for a few hours and don't have access to electric (you know how ladies love those...

    Fifth wheel hitch??

I have a 2001 2500HD crew cab short bed. I choose the Reese Signature Series 18K hitch. I really like the way this went together and did the install myself. I considered the slider and read many posts. I choose not to purchase a slider. I have no regrets. After our first outing when I went...

    Replacement Toilet Seat

We found the padded seat a more confortable option. They are usually around $10-$15 at the big box hardware stores. We did recently see one with palm trees - would be a nice decorating touch!

    Timbrens Installed

    Tank locations

Praise God for this forum. I went through and checked every water fitting I could find. I assume the thread on fittings really only need to be hand tight. But the job needs to be done by someone other than a six year old. I gave all my fittings a full turn. I did have a leak on a toilet I...

    Tank locations

    Prodigy users question

I need some input from Prodigy users - specifically those towing between 10 and 14K pounds. What is your initial gain setting and what boost level are you using? The brakes seem somewhat aggressive at slow speeds, but I don't notice much at higher speeds. Everything seems to slow OK when...

How to mount toilet paper rolls?

As the title suggests - the toilet paper roll holders were shipped loose in the unit. This is my first RV and I'm curious about how to mount these. I assume an interior wall is preferred, but do I need to find at least one stud? Should I use wing anchors? What are the tips from the seasoned...
