Looking for info on things to do and see with the grandkids, ages 4-11. Going to take it slow and easy and allow 3-4 days next April to go from Houston to Destin Florida.

There are several things to do the Mobile, AL, area, like USS Alabama and several forts (Ft. Morgan). That will be a great time of the year to be in this area as the weather will be warm (not too hot) and the beaches and area attractions will not be overly crowded. We are staying in a small RV park near the Florida/Alabama state line that is very nice. It is called Playa Del Rio, ( playadelrio.com ) located in Perdido Key, FL.

A lot to do in Fla and on the way. Can always visit New Orleans and Gulf Shores on the way. As Valerie said the USS Alabama is great to visit. In Destin if you have never been deep sea fishing it is really fun....and I am a non fisherman. A good charter boat that is very reasonable is Sweet Jodi. http://sweetjodyfishing.com/testimonials.html. I love Destin wish I was going with you.

New Orleans, the casinos at Biloxi, USS Alabama at Mobile is well worth the visit. Fort Morgan is interesting if you're a civil war buff. The outlet malls at Foley, AL, be sure to stop at Lamberts Cafe first, that way you can walk off all the food. Take your pick of plenty of beautiful beaches from Gulf Shores to Pensacola. Naval Air Museum at Pensacola is pretty cool. Ft Walton, did have a lot of outlets at one time, don't know if they still do. Last but not least Destin has some really nice golf courses.

I forgot to add an idea to my original post...if you are a Tabasco fan, Avery Island (just south of LaFayette, LA) is a fun visit. There is a "toll" bridge ($2.00, I think) but the factory tour is free. There is also a beautiful garden that can be toured ($8.00 per adult, not sure on the children's price). We have made two trips to Avery Island this year....to get some Tabasco sauces that you can only get online or at the company store.
