2010 Cyclone Water Heater

If it is like my former 2009, there are 2 switches. 1 on the water heater itself - a small black toggle switch around the burner area when you take the exterior cover off. The 2nd switch was a red "traditional" light switch on the "Cyclone" control panel inside. Both have to be on for the electric heater to run. Also, don't forget to check your breaker if these 2 don't do it. Good luck!

There are two switches to be concerned about.
There should be a red residential looking switch inside your rig somewhere. It should illuminate when turned on.
There should also be a rocker switch on the water heater itself. Remove the outside access panel to find the switch.
Also make sure the breaker for the water heater is not tripped.
There is also a chance that the water heater element is shot.
Check out the water heater guide in the "Tools" area. That can be found at the top tool bar of each forum page.
Here is a link to the Suburban water heater guide. [LINK]

Hi kennybob,

Suburban water heaters have 2 switches. One inside the coach - probably a wall-type switch that illuminates when ON. On the water heater, if you remove the outside cover, look in the lower-left corner for a small rocker switch. This switch protects against accidentally turning the electric element ON when there's no water in the tank.

Our owner-written Water Heater Guide provides a description with pictures of this and other water heater concerns.

If you just bought this RV, and have never used the water heater, it's also possible it might be bypassed as part of the winterization. Our Winterization Guide has info on how to de-winterize.

If it turns out the propane operation is ok, but the electric side is just not working, take a look at our Water Heater Troubleshooting Guide. It'll step you through figuring out most electrical failures on the water heater.

So now you know there are two water heater switches for the electric side.

If your breakers are ok there is also a very good chance the cheap switch on the outside at the heater is bad.
If it does not switch off and on easily you should just replace it.

That switch is a safety, turn the heater off outside when you drain the water.
