Air conditioner condensate runs off roof onto slide rooms.

The air conditioner condensate runs off the roof with enough force that it jumps over the rain gutter and ends up on top of the slide rooms. The front A/C onto the bedroom slide and the rear A/C onto the kitchen slide. I noticed that very little to no water runs out for a while and then a lot starts running at once. 2015 Bighorn 3570 RS.

Hi Congerd,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

Are you level front to rear and side to side? Then if level, have you checked the gutter to make sure something is not blocking it? I'm sure some others will jump in soon with more info.

Be sure and check out our Heartland Owners Club. Join us at a rally when you can and meet lots of the great folks here and make friends for a lifetime.

Enjoy the forum and your new unit.

In humid climates heavy A/C runoff is common. As Jim said check to see if you are level.

You should be able to alter the flow by tilting the rig slightly. Trace

I've seen gutter splice points that allow water to run through the crack and down the RV instead of the spout.

Agree with Rxbristol. Sometimes the gutter material deteriorate and lets water seep down the sides rather than down the gutter. That rubberized material can be purchased at almost any RV supply store but is a pain to replace.

Thanks all for the replies. The water that doesn't jump over the gutter will run down the gutter to the spouts. My problem is that most of the water winds up on the top of my slide rooms, not in the gutter. I will try leveling my RV to level to see if that helps. I had always had my front and right side a little higher so the runoff will go to the left rear on my last RV. I had set this one up the same way.

Does the water consistently run down the same path? Then maybe a few short dicor beads can act as "rumble strips" to slow the water down a bit and help it flow into the gutters more readily.

I had run beads of self leveling dicor yesterday on rooftop to attempt to divert the water past the slide rooms. It diverted some, but the water has enough force to jump the bead before it jumps the gutter. So I added another layer on top of the first bead. Releveling did not solve the problem either. What I have noticed is that no water runs for a while and then it seems to dump a lot of water at once. Both air conditioners do this. Not sure if the newer Dometic air conditioners do this. My last RV had a Coleman air conditioner and it seemed to run a constant small flow of condensate which ran into the gutter.

Water will stay suspended in the evaporator while the fan is running, when the unit/fan shuts down, all that water will run out at once. Normal. Use no-sag Dicor sealant to build a curb to direct the runoff where you want it to go. Water on the slides is not going to hurt anything, it rains on it as well.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to get some no-sag Dicor and make the bead higher in an attempt to direct the water. My concern with the water on the slides is we make one to two month treks and sometimes move campsites on a daily or every other day basis. This would mean that we would constantly be bringing our rooms in with water on top of them. That is my concern. I could always have slide toppers installed. Trying to avoid the cost and hassle of that option.
