air unit in living room not cooling right

Air unit is running and icing up the coil but does not seem to be cooling right-fans are running. What should the duct temperature be aprox near the unit? both coils are clean and clear. Outside temp was about 80 today. compressor is warm to hot when touched. attached canister which I think is a dryer ices up-is that normal? Exterior line to coil is hot. Interior coil line from compressor frost and ices up. As you can tell I am no air guy but I am mechanical. Suggestions?
thanks Steve

Steve. No air guy either but if your coils are icing up you will not get enough air flow so condition will get worse. Usually best to shut unit down and let it thaw out then try again.

If the freezing up happens again I have been told it can be a symptom of low refrigerant. I know that seems backwards but I trust my source.

Running the fan on low will contribute to icing of the coils.
If you are running on low and it is humidity is high, that could be a problem.
