Just noticed that the freash water tank filled and was overflowing when the valve was set on city water.
Does the valve need replacing or will it reset and work
anyone have this trouble
I can't search as very limited web access
thanks

There is a good chance the back flow preventer on the water pump is letting water flow to the tank and out thru the overflow

I had this happen. Mine was caused by dirt in pump diaphragm. I changed the winterize valve to winterize this allow the water to flow out anti freeze intake hose until problem fixed. Not sure if yours is the same.

It's usually the internal check valve in the pump, not the Anderson Valve. Take a look at pages 10 and 11 of our Water Systems Guide for a diagram that explains and information on how to fix the problem.

This happened to me. Replaced the pump and have no further problem... I first tried a separate back flow valve in the line, but that caused the pump to cycle irratically, so I took that out and all is good. P.S. Warranty work would have cost me travel fuel and too much time. Pump is easy to replace and you can get better pumps.

I got to look the PDF over and lots of info there.
Looks like a new pump or a check valve.
thanks for all the help

Started happening to us, also. I just replaced the water pump a year ago almost to the day.
I'm not understanding: is there a check valve already in the pump or is there an external check valve somewhere that's failed?

If I get the Shurflo 340-001 In Line Check Valve, do I install it or am I replacing something?

Hi Bob,

There's some kind of check valve inside the pump that probably fails due to crud in the water. The 340-001 is an external check valve that you install.

Fix or replace the pump. If you add a check valve you still have a bad pump.

I dunno, I added a check valve 4000 miles and many different camp sites ago, and my pump is still working fine and my tank no longer fills when hooked up to city water.

Well my tank is also filling when on city water. I don't think it is crud in my water since I run all water through a 30 micron paper filter, a 2 micron carbon filter, then through a water softener. Just marking it up to a bad / low quality part. Glad I read this thread and the water systems guide recommended by Dan and Ann in post #7. Looks like I will get a new pump in the next few days.

I had the same issue last week and it turned out that the Anderson valve WAS the problem. Replaced by the dealer and all is well again!
One additional symptom I had, was that that water pump was sucking in as much air as it was water, when in the "normal" position.

The dealer tech took the bad valve to return under warranty, so I didn't get to take it apart, but I'm guessing it's an o-ring failure within the valve. Cheap plastic *** valve, btw............

Same issue as well on my 2014 Big Horn. In talking to the factory explaining the situation they said I appear to have a bad Anderson valve. They just sent me a new one which I am having Camping World install. If that's not the fix, I'll get a new pump too !!

Good info here ... thanks
