Another landing gear fuse question

I've knocked out the fuse twice now. It's protected by a circuit breaker and a fuse. Both 30A. Someone on a forum here said the fuse is to protect the gear box because a circuit breaker is not fast enough. Does anyone out there have experience with using just the circuit breaker? Is a fuse really faster? My legs are so short stroked that I seem to be prone to hit the end even with it marked; pliers, head banging, glasses, back ache.
