Are new diesel 4x4 trucks taller?

Seems like all big 3 company trucks are higher above the ground than the older year models. Does anyone have a new TV pick up that has caused leveling problems with the fifth wheel and the TV? If so, how did you solve the problem. Specifically 2012 or 2013 model pickups.

Perhaps you are just getting shorter? I know I am.

I dont have a General Motors truck, but I think I heard that the bed sides are higher than in previous years. Also, the wheels and tires are getting huge on some rigs.

We drive a 2012 Ram 3500 4X4 Dually and tow a Bighorn 3570rs and with the head of the fifth wheel hitch mounted on the middle position and a mor-ryde pin box, it is level with about 6 inches clearance. No special adjustments, very basic. Hope this helps.

I debated between a SRW and DRW when I bought my truck. The dually is 2 inches lower and that was the clincher. My unit rides level in the middle hole of my Reese Elite hitch and I have over 5 inches of clearance.

My setup rides level. But I agree, the newer trucks sure seem to be riding high!

Took the hitch out of my 07 classic chebby and installed it in new 13 1tn GMC DRW and it worked just fine. From the 07 and 1/2 GM trucks to the new models....the bedsides are taller by about 2". I did find out that I have gotten 6" inches shorted or alot fatter. On the new duelly I have to carry a short step ladder to hook and unhook now. I cant reach anything except the release handle now.

I had to put my Reese Elite on the bottom hole and my Trail Air Tri-Glide pinbox on the highest holes and I'm still a touch high in the front. We are within 3/4 inch front to back so close enough, but yes, the truck is high. Our trailer already comes with the springs on top of the axles and no adjustment on the spring mounts so that's all the adjustment there is for us. If someone at the end of their adjustment needed the trailer any higher, the last resort is this: http://www.lci1.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=293<img src= which will give your trailer a 2" lift.
