Awning switch does not return to neutral

I have a 2012 Big Country. I have had to replace 3 awning motors. The last time I noticed that the Switch was stuck in the retract position after the motor burned out. Leach campers in Council Bluffs IA replaced the motor and took a switch off a new camper on their lot to get me going. This was about a year ago. Now I noticed several times that the new switch is again sticking in the retract position so that I have to be very careful each time I retract the awning. Has anyone had a similar problem? Are there some bad switches out there?

Not 100% clear on what you mean by "bad", but there are differences in quality of manufacturing between brands of switches. I have had good success with sealed marine variety - example Marinco.

Note the (on)-off-(on), the "on" in brackets means momentary on - ie hold to turn on, when you release it turns off. These are the style for our front landing gear, awning etc.

Please confirm the correct part number for your application, the above is only an example.

I'm sure there are others out there, and I bet some are pretty cheap.

Hope this helps.

My motor failed last summer (2013), and motor was still under warranty. Dometic sent the new motor and a new switch. The old switch was sticking and burned the motor. I was told the replacement motor and switch had an automatic thermal overload to prevent this from reoccurring. Have no further issues. Did you get the new motor/switch combination from Dometic?

X2. I replaced the landing gear switch and rear stabilizer jack switch with a good sealed marine switch and have had no further problems.
