Battery discharging?

While we are on the subject of batteries. To all that will listen. A battery is nothing to have any kind of sparks around. I know Bill (willym) will agree with me on this. If you have ever seen a battery explode...... I have....well you dont want to. Yes I know new batteries are a sealed type (well sorta) or have jell in them. Any battery that you can add water to is not completely sealed. Never have the fill caps off and play with the cables. SOOOOO....be very careful with any sparks around a battery. JMHO again

Yes , Bob I agree on the battery hydrogen issue. I've seen a few RV owners add batteries with no venting provision. I don't think that everyone appreciates how much energy is stored in a lead acid battery, they look so benign.

Several years ago I purchased a Corvette..It was in need of some Muffler/Exhaust work. The Tech. while working under the car got his torch to close to the Battery vents (Corvettes vent underneath the car, approximately right behind the Driver). The battery exploded, and since the Battery is serviced from inside the car, it blew Acid all in the interior...did over $2,500.00 in interior damage. Melted the carpet, ruined the seats, dash, and generally really made a mess of the interior of the car...Taught me a lesson about potential Battery maintenance

Well then you know first hand what can happen. The biggest problem is if it blows up in your face. Now your blind and you have to find a water hose to wash it out of your eyes. It sucks if that happens when your alone.

Bill a pound of C4 looks benign until it goes off.
