chalky roof!?

I looked at a 2009 BH today. The roof was very chalky. When I touched it, my hands were covered with a chalky powder. I'm new to this roof material, is this normal?

Yes, a chalky roof is normal if it has not been maintained.
The roof should be washed at least once per year.
I don't think that it is detrimental to the roof, but it just needs to be washed.

Peace

Thank you for the replies. If you aren't familiar with the material, the chalkiness makes it appear to be breaking down.

On the previous trailer I stopped using roof protectent because it only turned to chalk and ran down the side.
The 2009 BC has a perfectly clean roof with only washing with mild soap.

That's normal as the roof weathers the top layer gets chalky and comes off. Washing it will remove the chalkiness. Some wash them religiously, others like myself hardly ever wash them. My last trailer was 10 years old when I sold it and the roof was still in pretty good shape. It got washed when it rained or snowed...Don
