All dodge diesels come with the heater already installed in the block . If it did not come with the truck all you have to do is purchase the cord an plug it in

I just got this for my block heater.

"Aube by Honeywell TI062/U Plug-in Timer"

Multiple modes. The one I am using is temperature threshold and time.

When I plug in I use the "on at 21 degrees and on at 3am off at 8am" modes. Also has a simple push button on to bypass the timer.

The Ford heater doesn't heat anywhere near what my GMC did. The GMC warmed up enough to have instant heat and no snow on the hood. The Ford seems to only heat up about 20 degrees or so.

Checking yesterday, 15 degrees outside and the oil temp on the dash display listed 35.

If I open the hood I can feel that the top of the engine is warmer then the outside temp, but not by much.

I also went as far as making up an extension with the conductors unwrapped to check for amp draw. Only 7.5 amps, so it is not much of a heater.
