Electric stabilizer not working - Added to annual check list

Last outing my rear electric stabilizer quit working, 12 volts was going to motor. I took the motor apart and it was all rusted, springs for the brushes were completely gone. I was able to steal a spring from a ball point, cut it in thirds, cleaned rust, back to normal. Problem was the wire going into the motor cracked it's boot, and with water from the wheel, water was able to get into the motor. So added to my list of annual things to do, is to put new caulking on wire where it enters the motor. Since motor works good now, I might just leave it with the ball point pen springs it until it breaks again, fingers crossed.

I did the same thing early last year. Same problem with the wire boot, so I wrapped the joint between the gear box and motor housing with Rescue Tape and covered the boot with it as part of the wrapping. Water will require a written invitation to get in.
