The Belettis have arrived! We got here around 3 pm today and are all setup on site W12.


Nancy and I were invited over to Dave (cookie) and Mary H's (Mrs Cookie) for happy hour. Jay C and David L stopped by too and we hatched a plan to stuff rally bags tomorrow.

Around 5 pm, nine of us caravanned south on 151 to I-80 to have Maid-Rites! Yummy! After dinner, Bernie, Dave H, Bill L and I walked around to cap and deploy some Munzees.


After dinner, I flitted around the campground, meeting as many Heartlanders as I could. A great pre-rally day

A bunch of us are leaving the CG at 5PM on Tue to go to the Pizza Ranch like we did last year. All are welcome to join us.

Bernie....do you have an address for this restaurant????? The only Pizza Ranch I saw is in Liberty, Ia. Thanks

The City should be Cedar Rapids Iowa.

Follow Hwy 151 north to Cedar rapids.

Pizza Ranch in Near Harbor freight and Harley Davison.

John Deere Tour.

Please meet at the Rally Hall near the Office right about 8AM.

We can arrange carpools at that time.

I have several offering to drive but can use more people willing to drive.

Tuesday
Had a great Central Region pre-rally day here in Amana, Iowa.
This morning, a couple of the guys played golf while another group of guys played bocce ball.
Later, a few people went over to the rally hall and sorted and folded all the rally t-shirts. Thanks guys! Then a group of us went over and organized all the rally bag contents, stuffed all the bags and audited them. Great work team!...

Had a nice campfire tonight. About 25 people there. One Heartlander made campfire popcorn and another passed the Fireball. Nice time with great friends.

Wednesday

29 people enjoyed a nice drive up to Waterloo with overcast skies and a bit of rain, All to enjoy a great factory tour of John Deere Tractor assembly works.

While a bunch of the pre-rally attendees went on the John Deere plant tour, I smoked some beef and some peppers and made a double batch of chili. Looking at the forecast, it ought to go over well

Later, Dave H (cookie) and I crawled under my RV to see why I was leaking brake fluid. Seems I must have bottomed out the suspension such that a U-bolt flattened a section of brake line that was fastened to the bottom of the I-beam frame. The contact not only flattened the line but fractured it - hence the drip. At least now I know. We'll make a repair later this week.

Look at the flat spot to the right. Ouch!

Then Terry H came by to help me figure out why my residential refer has slid forward an inch. Got that figured out and made a permanent fix to that.

Nancy and I went downtown Amana for a bit more shopping.

Then we met a group of 10 more Heartlanders at the Ronneburg for dinner. It was good!


After dinner, probably 30 of us gathered for a campfire over at Jay and Stella's. I enjoyed walking around to meet everyone, learn more names and find out where everyone was coming in from. We have a LOT of states represented. Another rally attendee came in after dark. I helped guide them into their campsite. More people - more fun!

We drank all of the beer at the Colorado HOC Rally in Rifle, Colorado last week!

I've got a couple left . . . am having one right now as I winterize my trailer!

Well, I hope the weather there is better than it is here in Drayton, ND. Woke up to 36 degrees & gusty winds. The rig was bouncing all night from the wind. They are talking about possibly a 1" accumulation of snow today or overnight. Weather for the next few days will be cold, dropping to below freezing overnight.

Thursday

Today was the first official day of the rally. Much of the usual activity was seen around the campground in the morning. People walking their dogs, a group of guys playing bocce ball...

Bernie and I went on a "man-run" to Cedar Rapids today, stopping at Menards, Harbor Freight, O'Reilly's Auto Parts and Walmart. We did a bit of Munzing too.

Back at the campground in the afternoon, we had a "Meet and Greet" in the afternoon in the rally hall. Attendees brought snacks and visited with each other. Rally leaders walked through the rally agenda and took questions.

In the evening, we had a potluck dinner in the rally hall. Tons of great food!



After dinner, it was drizzling a bit. Many of us had campfires until the rain came It was a windy night too.

Friday

Brrrrr....

It was cold this morning and we had a really windy night. The wind continued to blow all morning as well. During a lull in the wind, I took down my EZUp with the help of Bill L and Dave H. It’s supposed to turn colder starting tonight and stay that way, so I figured it best to take it down now will temps are still in the 50s.

A lot of people went downtown Amana today to exchange their Oktoberfest tickets for wrist bands, take in the local sights and shops. Nancy and I stopped by the Amana Meat Shop to use our wooden nickel for a $1 pack of brats. Of course we bought way more than that


We went to Grape Vine Antiques next door as well.


We found street parking a block from the Festival Hall and walked over to exchange our Oktoberfest tickets for wrist bands.


Once inside the festival, we had lunch. We both had grilled pork tenderloin sandwiches, German potato salad and Oktoberfest beer from the local Millstream Brewery.


After lunch, we headed into the barn where the music was roaring. We were joined over the course of the afternoon by a couple dozen Heartlanders. A lot of fun!


In the evening, we gathered back at the rally hall for a dealer sponsored Brat dinner with attendees providing sides and desserts. Thank you Kettlesen RV - you’re a real friend to our club and we appreciate your sponsorship of tonight’s dinner.


After dinner, we gave away a bunch of door prizes.
