Jim and I have discussed having a Round Table discussion for anyone interested in Full Timing in an RV. There seems to be an interest in doing one and so, we are planning to have a get together on Thursday evening after the Bar-B-Que at 7:30 PM in the Pavilion. I want to invite all of us who are currently fulltimers to come and share our knowledge. Any one (couple) who has an interest (or just curious) about being a full time RV'er, come and bring your questions. It should be a lot of fun because there is so much to learn and always something new. Hope to see you there.

You can count Judy and I for this one. Today is our first full day of fulltiming so we will not have many if any stories to tell but are always open to suggestions, comments, advice and anything else the well seasoned fulltimers on this great forum have to offer.

Fulltimer's Discussion Wrap-up

On Thursday evening, after a wonderful potluck dinner on an open RV site here at the Fairgrounds, about sixty rally attendees got together in our rented building for a group discussion on Full timing in our RV’s.

This discussion was facilitated by John and Sue Morgan (jpmorgan37). There were approximately 20 members of the group that are already full timing with the rest interested in gathering information. The discussion topics included a brief definition of full timing, picking a home base, selling the existing home and contents, storage of personal items, budgets, home ownership expenses verses full timing expenses, cost of campgrounds, eating out, entertainment, personal property taxes, registration of vehicles, drivers licenses, filing income tax, registering to vote, vehicle insurance, full timers insurance, medical insurance, road hazard insurance, emergency medical assistance (EA Plus), Workamping, RV maintenance, necessary tools to carry, Internet connectivity, mail delivery, telephone services and more.

The discussion lasted for two hours and the full timers who were there answered many of the questions that the interested parties had. It was an informal discussion with lots of participation. This agenda is one that can be continued at future Heartland Owner Rallies as more RV'ers become interested in full timing and more full timers join our Rallies.

Many thanks to John and Sue for facilitating this session. Thanks too, to all who contributed questions, ideas and answers.

Happy camping!

Jim
