Effective 10/1/2014, the Sams Town RV will become a KOA.... We checked in Sept 30 for 8 nights and our Sams Town rate will be honored. I fully expect future reservations will pay the typical KOA rate which for here, I'm guessing (only my opinion) at least $15 per night higher . FYI

Terry,
Thanks for the heads-up.
KOA's used to be a decent value. Now many are on the high side when it comes to price.

Unless they do some upgrades at this one, I won't be staying there for more $$, or even the same $.
We have been going there since the 80's. (Sam's Town)
Stayed there again about 2 years ago and wasn't impressed.

Henderson has gone from being nice and out of town, to being very urban and "just okay". IMHO

It does have a handy Walmart however. :)

I would rather stay at The Oasis now, when we are in LV. Trace

You might check with the Thousand Trails system. They are allowing none members at most of the parks now. The non-member rate is $32 per night + $5 for 50 amp. in most parks. It is a nice clean park, close to everything.

Yes Trace,, I think non-members can stay at any of them now. I am pretty sure you need to make reservations and I don't think you need to set through one of the sales pitches either.

Well...that really is the pits. We were just there picking up our new rig from the dealership.

I read that the KOA behind Circus Circus will be closing, that may be why the change.

While we were checking in the lobby was full of Sams Town employees, 20 or so, having cake and just hanging out. We were offered cake too. I asked the clerk if they were keeping their same jobs and was told no, they were all being displaced. All new KOA people, computers, will be here tomorrow (10/1). We had a notice taped to our door asking us to re-register on Thursday (10/2) ....

Saw a post on Facebook that said the Circus Circus KOA is "moving" to Sam's Town.

Moved on to the next thing...
We've only ever stayed at two KOA's since we got into the trailer camping bizznezz . . .

The first one (Castle Rock, Colorado and no longer a KOA) was a disaster and we will never ever stay there ever again . . .

It was the first campout that we did with our first travel trailer!

The second (Durango, Colorado) was a great RV park and if ever we find ourselves in that corner of the state of Colorado, we will consider staying there again!

Seems to me that KOA campgrounds are designed to please the type of camper that has kids and needs to have options to keep the family occupied while staying at their park (ie.- swimming pools, movies, gaming room, ect.) . . .

For those of us who are looking to park our trailers while we do other things . . . the KOA ideal may not be the place for us to park our campers!

Just a thought to ponder . . .

We have stayed at the Las Vegas RV Resort which is just around the corner from Sams Town. It is a very nice park. I don't recall the price but it had to be reasonable for me to stay there.
