The freezer on brand-new 2014 road warrior does not seem to keep the temperature low enough to freeze we allowed multiple day but wont work.

Hi DeanandDarcy,

What's the make and model of the frig? Are you running on electric or propane, or is it a residential model that is electric only? Any temperature indicators?

Not much to go on.

If both the frig compartment and freezer compartment are too warm, and it's that way on both LP and electric, you'll probably have to let an authorized servicer take a look. Norcold warrants the refrigerator, so if there's no Heartland dealer nearby, you can probably get any authorized Norcold servicer to help. Always a good idea to talk to Heartland first if you're not going to a Heartland dealer.

If it's just the freezer that's warm and the frig compartment is cold, you probably have an air leak or something wrong with the seals around the freezer doors, or something inside is keeping the doors from closing completely.

Gas absorption refrigerators all need the following conditions to work correctly:
- the frig must be pretty close to level because the cooling system depends on gravity pulling the fluids through the cooling system at a predictable rate.
- heat transferred to the back of the unit has to be vented so it's carried away from the cooling unit. This is usually assisted by fan(s) on the back of the frig. If the vents are blocked, or the fan(s) aren't working properly, the heat builds up and the cooling unit won't work correctly.
- the doors on the frig have to have a tight seal or warm air inside the coach overwhelms the cooling unit.
- you need air circulation inside the frig (less so inside the freezer). If you stuff it full of items that block airflow, it won't cool properly.
- If you have a side-by-side model, there's a flap that seals the gap between the frig doors. If the flap binds and doesn't return to it's normal position, the warm air inside the coach overwhelms the cooling unit.
