The place where we store our RV during the winter had to move it. In the process of doing so, it slipped off their forklift(?) and put 3 scratch/small gouge marks in nose cone. I didn't think it was all that bad and really didn't get too upset. Storage place said to get an estimate/fixed/send them the bill or trade for future storage fees. Took the RV to local shop who handles everything and got the estimate today. Wholy Smokes !!!! $5,500.00 !!!!!!!!!!!! They said the decals have to removed and then new ones applied as both top and bottom paints have to be completely redone so as to not see any blend marks, plus fill in/smooth the scratches. I was like whoa!!! Was asked if I was turning into my ins to which I said no cuz I didn't do it so I forwarded the info to storage place and waiting to hear back. Am willing to bet they will be like whoa as well.

We had an unfortunate incident when our trailer was only 2 weeks and a friend happened to poke 2" hole in the cap
After 2+ years we have this

Well this is what it looks like now

No pics to post as of yet, but owner of storage place called me and basically thought that the 5200.00 estimate was extremely high and asked me to call a RV dealer to see if anyone else does body work and also call 1st repair place to see if it can be lowered any. I agree I think it does sound high, BUT I also agree w/ body shop that in order to not see any blend marks to whole thing needs to be re-done. IMO, there is a fair amount of labor involved. I'd also like to add that being a new RV, we shouldn't have to settle for a half azz job. I'm sure IF we had to, we could turn into our insurance, BUT again, we shouldn't have to.

For those who store their RV's, what is the storage places policy regarding damage while being stored?

Did they have permission to even touch your rig, much less move it?

John,

I parked/dropped it where I was told by his wife. When her hubby came back , he saw he wasn't getting as many vehicles stored as he should and that's when he noticed our rig and others were wrongly parked. He said I did what I was told and not my fault (this is when I picked it up). So in order to make more room/get things righted, he moved our coach, albeit w/o our permission, which I didn't/don't have a problem with and it slipped off his forklift thus causing the damage. If he hadn't said anything when I picked it up, I probly wouldn't have noticed it until I got home or later.

He is insured, I would hope. Get it fixed correctly.
