"Paint"? coming off of Wheels

So after being in the woods for a month archery hunting, I decided my Cyclone wanted a bath. In the process of washing it I found two wheels with what looks like paint coming off of the wheels between the spokes. Has anyone else had this happen. I thought all of these wheels were aluminum. I never heard of aluminum wheels being plated or painted (only heard of clear coated). The wheel material is off white under the "Paint". Are these some kind of composite maybe? Has anyone got advice / thoughts on this. Is this something that Treadit should be warrantying?

They are Powder Coated clear to keep them from tarnishing and corroding. That is corrosion that you are seeing. The powder coat has been nicked and allowed water to get underneath it, allowing the wheel to corrode.
