I just did this. Home Depot stocks the 1/2 inch PEX shutoff valve by SharkBite (which requires no crimping) for about $12. I got it for easier toilet cleaning.

Shark bite is good for about 2 years, just check every once in awhile to make sure its still holding.

Good to hear the OP got a new commode shipped out asap. I think Dometic is figuring out the two piece you can't separate isn't working out as well as they thought.

Where did you come up with the 2 year life figure??? I looked at the Sharkbite website, saw that they are code-approved to be placed behind inaccessible walls, and their warranty document lists them with a 25 year warranty:
