Replacing Slide Out Seals

I'm looking to keep my cyclone in great shape. Upon a maintenance check I noticed that the closet slide out's outer seal should be replaced before it fails. The trim piece holding the seal in place is the problem. I do not want to force it off and do damage to it. Is there a proper way to replace the trim and seals? This is a 2009 Cyclone. Thanks

Hi SRMBAKER,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum. This is the right place to get answers and I expect another Cyclone owner will have suggestions for you shortly.

SRMBAKER,

I just replaced all of the slide wipers and "D" seals on our coach. There are several things you need to watch for.

1 - Heartland uses different sizes on some of the slides , so when you call have your vin number as well as the sizes you need.
2 - The "D" seals are pretty easy to change as there are only 2 screws holding them in place one at the top and on at the bottom. Look for a small slit at each end and you will find the screw. Once you remove the screws at the top and bottom they just slide out of the track.
3 - I would suggest ordering a few extra screws because several will break and/or strip on you
4 - If you don't have an impact gun or a cordless drill get on because there are ALOT of screws to take out and put in, it makes the job easier. All of the screws are square head and they will round out on you.
5 - I found if you have an awl or some other device to punch a hole in the slide wiper to make a hole you can put the screw in it makes the job go faster.

If you have any other questions/problems send me a PM or email I will help.

Have fun

dave

Dave, Thanks for sharing your experience on replacing the "D" seals on your Landmark 5er slides. I am going to help a friend replace the D - seal on the DS seal on SOB (Redwood) that is a few months out of warranty. The "D" has turned into a gummy mess, i.e., liquid rubber. Therefore we are trying to decide what kind of cleaner or solvent to use to remove the gummy/sticky rubber from the slide as well as the wall of the trailer. Did you encounter such a problem with the cleanup of the rubbery mess? I am concerned about using any kind of solvent that would soften or remove the paint on the slide and trailer wall. I don't think any kind of soap solution would remove the sticky rubber residue.

I am currently looking at replacing the wipe seals on my heartland wilderness 2750RL slide out. trying to sort through all the videos and such. I have found only one place that has a wipe that looks good to me as want to go with a bit better quality seal. the ones that have failed are only 4 years old. I have found a good looking seal at steelrubber.com would like some input.

Rem, I too am facing slide seal replacements. FYI I contacted Heartland with my VIN and they stated Norco part number 0109807 was the correct part. $4.90 per foot. I'm still researching ways to change these out myself. I'll share lessons learned when completed.

I actually found my part with the help of this person's email. mhoward@norcoind.com found a woman that knew her job. I also found what looks like a better seal at steelrubber.com. but went back with same seal. 25" for 99.00
