Shower leaking behind facets

I have taken the inspection ring off and re-siliconed it. I have a 5" o-ring on the cap. When I spray directly on the facet it will leak behind the wall. Should I put a thin coat of silicone on the back of the facet rubber seal. First post and new member:D

I also added silicone caulk at each end of the grab bar and around the faucet housing. While you had the cap off, did you verify the connections were tight? (sorry, have to ask since we all forget the simple stuff from time to time)

After making sure everything was tight, I used a thin bead of clear silicone (I'd use white next time) at the top of the gasket. Mine hasn't leaked since. Only leak I had in the shower was from water running behind that gasket.
