Shower valve - Hot is cold and cold is hot.

The shower valve in our Ashland appears to be plumbed backwards. When you turn the valve it starts out hot and the farther you turn it to the hot direction the colder it gets. It appears that the hot was connected to the cold and the cold to the hot. Can I just remove the valve and swap the lines? A friend of mine told me that some valves have a cartridge that you can remove and rotate 180 degrees and it will correct the problem. Suggestions?

Thanks Dave. That's what my buddy said to do. I will check it out this weekend and see if that will correct it.

You may be able to access the water connections via an access panel on the wall behind the shower. (we can in our Landmark). If you can you may be able to swap the hot and cold water lines. That would solve the issue.
